Yeah, but Lorre's vanity cards are almost always very tongue-in-cheek. He was cracking a friendly joke on Sheen and Sheen's response was just way over-the-top.
One of the talkbackers at AICN was actually kind of funny:

And actually the card is from a few weeks ago. And Charlie's FIRST response recognized it as tongue in cheek.
I think this most recent attack is about the will or won't the show resume.
Lorre has been VERY loyal to Sheen. He has said he won't do the show without Sheen. Not even a few episodes without Charlie.
I wouldn't be surprised if the show never comes back.
Disappointed actually, but not surprised.
Sheen needs to REALLY hit rock bottom and take the help that's being offered.
But, he could stay drunk, coked, whatever, for the rest of his life, he's got the money....

God, it's like he has no understanding of the connection between himself, his production company and the network that airs his stuff. When a guy goes completely off the rails in public, as he did yesterday, the network has to factor in the ramifications of its connection to him. He was clearly not in his right mind, and given that the production was shut down for the sole purpose of giving him some time to get clean and sober (and he clearly doesn't give a hoot about that right now), it makes sense for CBS to say, "Fuck it, shut it down and we'll talk about it in a few months."
Oh well, at least this isn't one of those shows where an impromptu series finale that doesn't resolve anything is likely to piss off its fanbase. It's not exactly a show known for serialized storytelling, and in a way, I think a run of the mill episode ending up as the series finale is rather appropriate. I say this not just because I despise the show and wish it nothing but ill will, but also because isn't the point sort of that the main character is a womanizer?
I imagine a planned series finale would probably be mushy as it would have him end up getting married or something. Wouldn't this go against the show's appeal (I hate using that word to describe this show, but the ratings prove its validity)? A series finale like "Turnabout Intruder" makes sense. A crass show with nothing of value to say should end with a nothing episode that lacks an emotional payoff or significant message.

Most TV contracts include clauses for their major players forbidding them - as a typical example - from skydiving in their "private life." The logic's fairly clear. This isn't done because the studios are ungrateful for the dependable good work habits and popularity of their stars, but quite the opposite: the sudden inability of a key player to make his or her reliable, inestimable contribution on set could cost the studio millions of dollars.
Sheen's bosses have to decide whether to gamble millions and millions of more dollars against the likelihood that he'll show up on time and perform impeccably until suddenly he's found dead on his living room carpet.
As for his friend's outrage that his bosses are interfering in his "private life:" fuck his friend. A "friend" who turns up as a mouthpiece rationalizing Sheen's behavior at a time like this is worthless trash. Maybe Charlie will reward him somehow, though - I'm sure that's the hope behind the statement.

Even if Two and a Half Men is done, I HIGHLY doubt Charlie Sheen's career is over. He's going to get paid ridiculous amounts of money for cameos basically playing himself in movies like The Hangover III and numerous other comedies where a drunken sex addict movie star is needed.
He nearly died in 1998 or 2000 and they say whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
In the case of Charlie he probably thinks he's near invincible now.

I feel for his family. Because who he is, this is all taking place in a VERY public manner.
It wasn't the friend's outrage, it was the friend quoting Charlie's outrage.
Which to me sounds like a career that has ended.
I just heard of this total meltdown today from a friend though he just said that Men got cancelled. When i came home i checked on it and was surprised it got this ugly.
Sheen is delusional but that's a sign of an addict who can't admit to himself he's got a problem. I just hope he realizes it before he ends up dead from an overdose.
Considering he's been playing a slightly cleaned up version of this same character on TV for the past 7 years, sounds like his career would be chugging right along to me. More power to the guy for being able to get paid bigtime for being himself (more or less) in front of a camera.
I'm hoping for at least one more Hot Shots! sequel. 
He mentioned Major League as well and said if they use him it will be a hit and if they don't it'll be a piece of shit or something like that. Also it would appear that HBO has offered him a show now.
