I have been a member of this board for almost 11 years now, and I have to say my interest in waning. While there are a lot of members here that I really enjoy conversing with, I must admit the number of posters that I dislike seems to be growing exponentially. I'd block them, but I'm afraid that I'd end up blocking way too many people.

Maybe this place is just getting too big. I really don't want to leave or anything, as this place is where I get pretty much all of my scifi and entertainment news, but I'm finding it harder and harder to actually want to participate.

I am tempted to turn over a new leaf and simply avoid the internet altogether. I spend way too much time on my computer when I could be doing other things. I am starting a new full-time job next week, so I won't have time to be on the board much at all anyway. Maybe that's a good thing.

Routine. That, and I feel at home here. I've been on dozens, hundreds, of other message boards, and I always come back here. I have my own board, and while I post there and take care of the various things a board needs to maintain it, this still feels more like home. The board is like my favorite shirt. I've had it forever, and I feel most comfortable when I'm wearing it.

I'm with the routine thing as well.. That and I do really enjoy the difference forums here.. The political "discourse" is fun to watch and drop two cents into once in a while.

I'm not enough into politics to care about joining any politics centered BBSs, as this one offers what I want as far as entertainment news and conversation.

At one point, when I was a constant poster, I wanted to persue being a Mod, but now I'm happy just to hang out...

I hear you on that one. Overall though I still have fun. Most people seem to behave themselves.

Good luck on the new job.

The people, the anonymity, the drama. And so many more things, whatever seems to suit me at the moment. Sometimes it's not enough to keep me here and I take a break. Maybe one of these days that break will be permanent. I'm not too concerned. I'll be here until I don't enjoy it anymore, and then I'll find something else.

Been here for a while, find that my interest waxes and wains depending on time of year or sometimes a specific poster will cross the line...

However, I find that if I keep at it, I often find that those posters that have pissed me off, often become easier to handle if one simply engages them...

I don't post much but I read this board daily, so it's the familiar "faces" that keep me here. I care more for the opinion of people that I'm familiar with. So if there's a subject I'm interested in, I'd post or read about it here than go to a forum full of strangers.

We all also have something in common. Something about our personality makes us get attached to particular scifi shows. I find many people here are very similar to me and it makes me feel at home and understood.

It's not even a matter of people behaving themselves. So many people here just seem clueless about everything! I hate to bust out stereotypes, but lately I really do feel like I'm talking to a bunch of 40-year olds still living in their parents' basement. I shouldn't have to explain every little thing that I say like I'm talking to a child.

Good luck on the new job.
Thanks!

I enjoy TNZ, Misc for random fun and sharing/commenting, and the Star Trek forums for getting into a random discussion about Star Trek nuance that I simply couldn't do elsewhere. Good routine, I like the place.

I like that I get what seem to be honest answers or advice when I post about issues that come up in my life. Some are brutally honest, but still good answers or answers.

Oh dear, I hope that wasn't a reference to me! If I've been too harsh I apologize.

^ Kestra, you are probably the least 'harsh' person here. And yes, that was a compliment. :techman:

Thanks dude, but I know I go all "Disapproving Mom" on people and can get carried away. It's always meant with the best of intentions but that doesn't mean it doesn't sometimes offend people.

I have the most friends here, in terms of the online community. That, plus loyalty to the people here, because the very first time I ever posted a story I wrote, I did it here, and it was received well and people were very supportive. And when Battlestar Urantia became the most viewed fanfic on this site, I knew that the audience here was a great one, so I stay because I like the members here. That, and I like the format of the forum.
