What old games would you like to see "reinvented"?

Star Trek Bridge Commander with the Kinect voice software. Also I would love a Freelancer re-make with the ability to use voice controls as well as standard ones.

Heart fo Darkness would be a great re-make too especially for PSN/Live.

When I read the thread title three games popped in my head:
- Heart for Darkness ... waith, it was fun but almost a kid's game, wait, what was the best PC game I've ever played with? oh yeah:
- Freelancer!! Hey, everybody is mentioning Wing Commander, maybe we'd need a GOOD Star Trek game, like
- Bridge Commander (maybe infused with some mass effect style personal exploration, like in Star Trek Fallen)

Thanks for coming to the same conclusions :)

Freelancer was pretty fun, but it loses to Wing Commander: Privateer in one key area. Freakin' Joystick support! WTF!

There was a time where one of those games in MMO form was my dream (before there were MMOs as we know them), but now that I've seen where MMOs have gone, no thanks, make it good and single player... with ability to invite people into your games, i.e. small user-created servers...

For me the very reason I loved Freelancer was that I didn't need joystick, I could have all the fun with my mouse only!

The endless hours we spent trafficing H-fuel from Japan to Manhattan, 4-8 of us on a private server... Those were the times...

By the time I played Freelancer online, Microsoft hut down the server list and I could hardly play online :( The idea of Freelancer online seemed cool.

OK, it's nice that you COULD play Freelancer with your mouse. But you would think they'd extend that courtesy to a Joystick! It'd be like if Dirt 2 didn't support steering wheels!

If anyone ever does a Privateer/Freelancer type game again, I say make it possible to play it with either a joystick or a mouse, that way everyone can have fun.

I never did get around to playing Freelancer. I loved its predecessor, Starlancer, which I think was one of the last decent fighter sims.

^^ You can play with either keyboard/mouse (just like in a FPS) or joystick in the X space sim games, beginning with X3: Reunion.

Personally, I still prefer the good old flight stick.

Descent Freespace

Came with my Windows 98 PC and it was an awesome game. I tried the sequel but could never finish it

Anachronox...

Hell yeah! Glad to see someone who knows that game :) They were actually supposed to make a sequel, but it never materialized.

Mostly on account of ION Storm going bankrupt. :( Curse you, John Romero!

Yeah, unfortunately, though I think another reason is that it just wasn't popular enough due to being overshadowed by Daikatana's problems. I watched the movie made up of cutscenes and it made me realize how tight the writing is. It's a little rough in places, but that's to be expected. Some scenes seem to not make much sense due to a lack of context.
