A couple things mainly because I actually got my second taste of Justin Bieber last night and someone in this thread labeled me in the Glee stareotype that is so predictable and old now that I felt the need to respond somehow.
1) I'm oblivious to Justin Bieber. I don't hate him, I don't love him but I know there are many people who did love him. Hell, back in 1999 (I think I was 15 at the time) I liked N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys (I still have the Millennium CD but don't listen to it) and it's a craze that people go through. To call him a punk seems so out of line and goes in line with the music holier than thou attitude that I see online a lot. It's actually one of the reasons I don't like talking about music online. He's probably a nice guy, but I don't know nor really care. To those that enjoy him and his music, more power to you. Hopefully you like Variety and not just listen to Beiber all the time, but I'm not going to judge one way or another.
2) I got a flavor of some of these fans last night when I was on twitter and followed Glee, and I will say he does have a rabid fanbase. I think the thing I have against Bieber is the phenomenon he's become in comparison to other musicians. Like I said, I'm not here to judge, but's unreal how much he's gotten into the mindset of people and how much people adore him for almost doing nothing. I can't even blame the MTV generation anymore because there is no MTV generation anymore. It's moved on to the youtube generation.
3) Now for the main point of why I wanted to respond in this thread, and that's Glee. Someone up thread brought out the oldest cliche in the book about "I'm a guy" and "I'm not gay". Well, I'm a guy, last time I checked I'm not gay, and I like glee. Watched the Justin Bieber episode last night and enjoyed the non-Bieber bits, and I even have a thread going on in this forum to talk about the current season, which has been getting activity from other Glee fans. So you know people in real life who have the same mindset when it comes to Glee, well, on the Internet that real life get's a lot bigger, like "real world" bigger and the sample size becomes a whole lot larger.
So yeah, It's a Justin Bieber world and we're all living in it. I for one can't wait for the next fad, but until then, I'm moving on.
