Though when you first activate the Horta, it does leave a little mess on the floor.

After seeing some of those Vulcan ships out there, I think I need to start building up my Emblem count to get one. By the looks of it, the daily missions get you a total of 15 emblems a day (Fed). You need 500 to get one, and I only have about 70.

Horta are sentient so it does not seem right to make them pets, even if youngsters.

"Pets" is an MMO term for npc followers. It doesn't imply non sapient. In WOW you can get Heralds. Human or Orc squires who follow you around with a banner. Those are "pets" even though they are clearly not animals.

Exactly. Indeed, according to the item description:

"A young Horta has chosen to join you on your adventures! This silicon-based lifeform will learn from you as you travel and munch on any interesting metals or minerals it encounters. Someday your Horta friend will return to the Chamber of the Ages on Janus IV, but it has a few thousand years to play explorer before that happens."

True, and yet when I get one I want to dress my Horta up in a cute little outfit and take pictures of him!

I finished the episode, and took the armor.

The Horta is cool, but what's he actually doing on my ship? He doesn't help out with combat, he can't man the helm, he keeps burning holes in the hull!

I'm thinking of firing him out a torpedo tube.

BTW, only jking :D I love the little rascal.

    New Engineering report from DStahl:

So many cool new features I won't even try to list them here.

My favourite though: In-game voice chat. This will do away with problems like setting up a group chat on steam, people having vent or teamspeak.
You just hook up your mic and people on your team can hear you. been waiting for that since launch! Hooray!
