The Power Rangers are back with Power Rangers Samurai. It starts on Monday, February 7th, so I thought I'd set up an ongoing thread dedicated to the new season. I hope it continues the more sophisticated approach to Power Rangers that we saw with RPM. If not, I hope it's at least good fun.

I hope it continues the more sophisticated approach to Power Rangers that we saw with RPM. If not, I hope it's at least good fun.

From the clips I've seen, it's pretty clear that they're not trying for anything remotely like RPM, but instead are trying to emulate the original MMPR, which was infinitely stupider. As for "good fun," the clips don't encourage me. There's one online clip of the Rangers in action and their attempts at witty banter are painfully unfunny.

LOL that's a common comment since 2009 when Shinkenger was revealed.

The symbols on the helmet are kanji. For Power ranger's samurai they're just "power symbols"

That's too bad. They had a good thing going with RPM. I hope they go back to it someday.
