Hows today's tech match Star Treks?

The Space shuttle is a VERY poor example. It was never capable of %100 reliability.

My old '86 Oldsmobile that's been sitting under a cover for the last 10 years and has at least two inactive cylinders is more reliable than the space shuttle.

Willing to get rid of that oldsmobile any time soon?
I can fix the two inactive cylinders.

Well, in reality, the car is my brother's, but I know he's been debating junking it for a while. It's been pretty much sitting in the back-driveway for several years and, honestly I'm not sure when the thing was last ran. (He used to run it every couple months just to keep it somewhat operable.) It's been under a car-cover most of this time. IIRC it's a V6 and as I said two of the cylinders are inactive and it has other mechanical problems too (it burns oil like it's a two-stroke), a pretty dinged up body and I don't recall the condition of the interior or how many miles are on it (probably something like 200,000 on I believe the original engine.) After looking on line I'm fairly sure it's an '86. Oh, and it's a 2-door Cutlass.

If you're serious about it let me know, shoot me a PM and we can discuss this further via phone and/or email, and I'll find out more about it from my brother and see how willing he is to part with it. Because, really, all it's doing is sitting there sucking up money since local laws require that it remain licensed with the state and, thus, insured.
