Your favourite movie?

It's got Capt. Kirk in it, I like the score, Malcolm McDowell was good and the crash sequence was executed very well. 6/10, not the best, but perfectly enjoyable.
I like the story, characters, acting... I don't see anything terrible in it. I like all the movies in their on way, I don't judge them. They all are awesome and I like them. Of course I have an order in which they are, but I like them. Generations is absolutely my favourite.
And some of you think, that Generations over Original Cast-movies? Yeah. I grew up with The Next Generations so that's why I prefer 7-10.
Problem with TNG movies is they were never anywhere near as good as the better episodes in the series. Where the TNG series, in its day, had some of the best production values on TV and blew most shows out of the water, the films just never really stood up to the competition in theatres... whereas at least the first few TOS movies were genuinely equal technically to the best sci fi films of the period.
Why make a distinction between the "original" movies and Trek XI? They're all Star Trek.
My favorite is Trek XI. They did an astonishingly good job at resurrecting Star Trek after years of mismanagement. I never would have thought Spock was a re-castable character, but Zachary Quinto was so perfect in the role, it's like they had him made to order at the Spock factory 30 years ago. Now that's planning ahead!
Second favorite would be The Voyage Home or First Contact. TVH really captures the warmth, humor and heart of the TOS crew. FC is a very well-crafted action movie, if you cross your eyes and ignore the logic problems you always get with time travel. It represents the Borg at their best, even if ironically the seeds of their destruction were planted in this movie - Borg Queen, feh. Bad idea, but wasn't obvious at the time.

No more so than most Trek films.
First off, I don't like arguing the merits/flaws of a film when compared against other films, but honestly none of the other films (aside from maybe First Contact) had Nexus sized plot holes in them.
Giant plot holes became the norm in the TNG film era, though they'd already started off with a bang in Star Trek VI where much of the story hangs on some pretty huge assumptions and highly implausible sequences of events. I don't think Generations has plot holes so much as it has plot contrivances and a few big oversights. First Contact on the other hand has some whoppers. They managed to fall into almost every time travel story trap in the book with that one. The problem with Borg intervening in the past to change the future is a massive problem for storytelling because there really is no plausible moment when you might choose to do so. Assimilate Earth in the stone age and you don't get to incorporate any technology into the collective, the same goes for 2063 or virtually any time other than the present. So First Contact has a problem in that the fundamentals of the story simply do not work. Its not a question of holes - there's not enough coherent plot for there to be holes in.
There are certainly some leaps in other Trek movies, but nothing as bad as the big Nexus hole. I mean, really, if you can leave the Nexus and go anywhere, any time, why wouldn't Picard have just gone back to well before anything that happened on Veridian 3? I'm assuming he's a smart enough guy to figure that out. Take Soran by surprise - raid that Amargosa station SWAT team style. And wouldn't Kirk have maybe wanted to return to his time rather than going back to help Picard punch Soran (as Red Letter Media so beautifully put it)?
Kruge or the Klingons obviously have a plant deep inside the Federation that could get detailed technical information on pretty much anything the Klingons desired. Why send Kruge to the Genesis planet? What was the Genesis planet itself going to tell the Klingons that detailed intelligence wouldn't?
Well, it would tell them whether or not it worked. Their intelligence was just a report made by Kirk and smuggled to them by Valkris (I think?) on a civilian freighter. (and honestly, the only reason it was Kirk was because they didn't want to pay Neuwirth for another appearance if they didn't have to). I never really got the impression that they had a regular source of information, but rather this was a hard won bit of intel obtained through some back channels. I also don't remember Kruge taking orders from anyone. Rather, it seemed like he was a bit of an unhinged dude out to get a little glory for himself by obtaining this kick-ass weapon. I don't see that as huge a plot hole as the Nexus is. Or really a plot hole at all.
IF that were in the movie (that's Stewart behind the scenes), I'd have loved Generations even more! LOL
