Spoiler: 1x02: "There Goes the Neighborhood, Part 2"

Sally begs the guys to call Danny over so she can try to make him see her presence somehow. Aidan, while trying to fight off Cara's unwanted admiration, receives some shocking news about someone who he thought was dead. Josh discovers Aidan's involvement in the Rebecca incident and confronts him about it; at the same time, Josh is also struggling with whether to tell his sister the truth about himself.

I despise how this program is called an original show from SYFY. Are they obnoxious or just assume that the American Audience is ignorant and foolish? It's okay, but really this is a rerun. I've seen it before and I know every thing that is going to happen.

This series is not going to be worth a handful of snot until they've burned through the UK scripts.

They made Aiden older than his British counterpart.

Much older.

I suppose killing Redcoats in the War of Independence is much more sexier than killing Mexicans in the first World War.

This was too much of a by-the-numbers retread of the original. And with season 3 having started to remind me how awesome it is, there really is no comparison. I don't know if this'll get a full season order, but they'll pretty much be at the end of season 3 if they do a straight ep to ep conversion. After that, if not sooner, let's see something new.

SyFy calls all their shows "a SyFY original" unless they airing something made by another network like Star Trek Enterprise or X-Files.

I'm sure that they won't copy the original version completely. They're probably starting it out closer to the original and will diverge from it as the show develops.

Season one US is 13 episodes. Season 1 + 2 UK = 14 episodes (+disgarded pilot.) = 15 episodes.

Even though a US episode is nearly 20 minutes shorter than a UK episode they can still fit most of the 60 minute script into a 40 minute script if they just do everything faster.

Though.

IMDB has the episode titles for all 13 episodes of the US Being hUman.

i think it's safe to say they're not planning on going off book any time soon.

If they bought the scripts, then they have to use them, it's just a question of if they bought season one and two. What's happened in the pilot so far has set into motion so many events and contingencies that can only be resolved by refabricating identically the entire first season (6 episodes).

Can they have bought the season three scripts which are still to air, although I believe the Poms don't air anything much until they have completed the entire body of work.

I haven't seen the original yet, so I don't know how directly their copying it, but so far I'm enjoying it.
As for how close they're going to stay to the British version, there is an interview with the creators in the last issue of SCIFI Magazine, and they said that they will be expanding the storyline as they go on to fit into the longer season. And they said that they have been working closely with the creators of the British version, and so far they've like what the US version has done.

The thing that really bugs me, is the fact that they call Merlin, Primeval and Doctor Who (when they showed them) a SYFY original. I just don't understand how they can call a direct import an "Original". At least Being Human (US) is being made for, and aired for the first time on, SYFY.

Looks like series 3 of the British version is starting on BBC America on the 19th of Feb. I wonder if they'll do a catch up of the first 2 series first and it was a brilliant start to the new series.
I'll be watching this episode shortly.

Guys, they're NOT making this show for fans of the British version. They're making it for the 90% of the American viewing audience who aren't familiar with cult British tv shows.

I actually thought the second ep was much stronger than the pilot, which was a bit draggy. Now that they've got the set-up largely out of the way, this one was much livelier. And Rebecca the red-haired vamp got all the good lines!

Incidentally, I watched the episode with my relatives, none of whom had ever heard of the British version before, and they all enjoyed it--and seemed interested in watching future episodes.

That's the real audience for the show. Now us saavy scifi messageboard posters.

I thought it was surprisingly decent. I was expecting more of a Warehouse 13/Eureka kind of thing. I've been enjoying this and Shameless on Showtime, neither of which I'm too familiar with in their original incarnations, and sometimes ignorance is bliss.

^Both Shameless and this are actually pretty decent adaptations for the US market. I prefer the originals still but they're not bad, or as bad as I was expecting. Skins on the other hand.

I really liked her and not 'cause she's a gorgeous redhead. She was really delivering her lines with gusto. The characters are a bit mopey so it was nice to see someone having some fun with who they are.

I'll kinda miss the dorky girl. I wish they had vamped her instead.

Well, the resolution to the cliffhanger was pretty pedestrian, but at least they didn't kill off the sister; that would have been the lamest resolution.

Other than that, this episode was as good as the first. Nice performances and characterizations throughout, and the storylines are interesting, if overly focused on Vampires so far. Hopefully future episodes will remedy that. I especially liked Sally learning about how she died; very sad and touching.

Our Vampire here, though, seems to be quite similar to the True Blood Vampire, turning over a new leaf and at odds with the Vampire sub-culture. The only significant difference seems to be that he was turned in the Revolution rather than the Civil War.

There's some sensible casting here. Aiden isn't unlike the character Davis Bloom in Smallville played by Sam Witwer. And there seems to be elements of Lost's Jacob and Supernatural's Lucifer in the Bishop character played by Mark Pellegrino.
