Aw, that's too bad.At least we had something to talk about while we wait for the new episodes to air.
Yeah I enjoyed these threads. I don't get to talk about Doctor Who very much and I haven't seen the classic series so these were fun to "get back into the spirit" of Doctor Who. The Christmas Special (Awesome by the way) was nice, but new episodes don't start till what, April. How are we ever going to pass the time.

Tom Baker was my first Doctor, so he'll always be my favorite.
Normally I bemoan the fact that the incumbant wins these kinds of things, but in this case, well call me a hypocrite but Smith for pretty much owning the role from the second he clambered out of the library/swimming pool
After him probably Davison, Troughton, Tennant and Eccleston in variable order. Really there's never been a truly terrible Doctor though.
One thing I've noticed around these boards is when it comes to Doctor/Companion, people change minds really easily. What I mean is taking Tennant for example. When he was Doctor everyone loved him. Now that Smith is in the role, people decide they didn't like Tennant. The best example is the comparison between Martha and Donna. Interesting how stuff like that always works.
First off....I voted for 10.............HOWEVER...I have to agree that there is a big difference between FAVORITE and BEST. So are the votes for best or favorite? I also have to say that in these polls it is very difficult to TRULY determine the best simply because the variables are just too large to apply to each doctor. For instance...Length of tenure, the chemistry with the companions, quality of FX, (although I will admit that most viewers may not hold the FX of the doc against him...but the FX can change the overall tone of a episode or season.), directing, and finally (and IMHO most important) writing. In consideration of all of these factors it is very difficult to fairly compare all of the Doctors because they each had varying lengths of tenure as well as all the factors I mentioned above. For instance....who is to say what Doc 1 could have been with the production values of today and the writing talents of the era of Doc 10 and 11...or maybe the era of Doc 4? One can throw in any combination of variables that could completely change ones perception of the BEST or FAVORITE Doctor. In addition...sometimes the difference between the length of tenure can change ones perception simply because the actor may have had more time to grow into the role or even grow on a person. My all time favorite was Doc 4...and many (but not all) from my generation see Tom as the actor to compare all the rest to. I really like 10 and 11...but that is because they remind me for some reason so much of Doc 4. ...To each his own I guess.............
