My favorite musician is Trent Reznor. I like way too many bands to really list, though.

Lately, I've been getting hooked on Souvenir's Young America.

Top two for me right now would probably be Robert Pollard/Guided by Voices and Tom Waits.

The Beatles were huge for me for a long time but by now I've heard all the stuff so many times it's lost a lot of it's impact.

I tend to like obscure bands that try to subvert the conventions of rock rather than adhere to them.

I still like Primus quite a bit too. That was definitely some of the strangest stuff to ever make it to mainstream radio.

Well, I'm that old either, really. But geez, looking at my list again, I just realized just about everyone on that list still living is in his or her 60's or pushing it. McCartney and Dylan are looking 70 in the face.

But you're right. Glenn Miller is timeless.

My absolutely favorite artist/band is Elton John...

Ahhh, Elton. In French class in high school we had to make a French family tree with pictures and labels, etc. We could make up our family members and I chose Elton John and Miss Piggy as my parents.

One of my favorite stories my mom ever told me was about the time she was thrown out of an Elton John concert. She was 15 years old, so it was probably sometime in '76. In the middle of the show she climbed onto her boyfriend's shoulders and pulled off her shirt to reveal her bare breasts with "Elton" written across them in green glitter. It all seems very appropriate to me!

LOVE that story.

It's soooo nice to know I'm not alone in my Elton John fangirlism here.

My favorite groups tend to be the baroque orchestras like Europa Galante, Il Giardino Armonico, Venice Baroque. Concerto Italiano, Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin, the Academy of Ancient Music.
