My Fave One-Shot Companion is...

Andrew, you chose "Other". Who you thinking about/who did I forget?

No Richard Mace, no Duggan?

Adam was in two episodes...

I shall take my pedantry elsewhere, Sir!

Point-of-Clarification: One-shot companions are, by nature, the ones the production staff intended as such. Duggan, Mace, and even Sally Sparrow are all secondary characters in the story. Now, taking that POV literally, Dr. Grace Holloway would be in here, if she wasn't already considered McGann's one-true "Companion". Adam was a guest-character in Dalek becoming a one-shot companion in The Long Game. As for Wilf, the guy has appeared multiple times before taking a trip in the TARDIS. Thus, like The Brig, he's a "Recurring Character".

Tough choice between Kazran and Abigail. But since Kazran still grew up to be a meanie I voted for Abigail.

As I mentioned previously, though, wouldn't those people be considered guest-stars versus one-shot companions? I mean, I personally don't agree with the one-shot idea anyway. I never considered Jackson Lake, Christina, Wilf, or any of the other Specials characters "companions". But, since most in the modern era do, I can see the delineation between, say, Duggan (a character that appeared in one story for that story only), and, Jackson Lake (who, while also appearing in one and only one story, was purposefully intended to be considered a "companion" for that Season).

But, that's cool. I appreciate you at least answering me... :techman:

The thing is, for me, the notion that there's a definitive list of who is or isn't a companion seems a bit daft. All the characters I've mentioned (well, maybe I was being a bit cheeky with Bellal...) fulfill a companion role in the story in which they appear - in a way that other guests stars don't so much - i.e. they accompany the Doctor and actively assist him in his adventures - the fact that they don't leave in the Tardis at the end is really the only thing that stops them being thought of as companions. Whereas some of the modern series characters in the poll are more guest stars than companions if you ask me.

Fair enough, then. It's not an entirely accurate science, as you say... :techman:

My ex girlfriend & I got into an argument about companions after we watched Planet of the Dead. I say if ya go off & have an adventure with the Doctor, ya count as one. She said that ya had to travel in the TARDIS from point A to point B for the adventure.

This argument lasted, off and on, for days...and got brought up again!

to be a companion you have to travel in the TARDIS and be in more than one story. so Mickey, Adam, Jackie, Captain Jack and the Brig and Benton qualify, but Adelaide, Lady Christina, Jackson and Astrid don't.

seemples.
