SGU CANCELLED!

Berman still had a contract and, I believe, some development money in the pipeline when Enterprise was cancelled - that's why he continued to work on Trek and specifically on that "Romulan war" movie. I've no idea whether Wright is in a similar position or not; for all we know he's packing up cardboard boxes this week. Or maybe not. Anyone know for sure?

MGM has to fire him.
I truely hope they terminate him and in sort order because to continue SGU would be unlike anything I've ever seen. IF Berman had resolved to continue ENT despite it's failure...Paramount wouldn't have allowed it...

What would be unlike anything in the past would be for the studio to decide that they should now hire someone to back up and produce another TV series like any of the three made thus far.

If they do anything more with Stargate, it'll be a modernized restart of the whole thing if not going off on some unexpected tangent. Given MGM's current situation in general, it'll be a surprise if they're in any hurry at all to do more.

It wouldn't matter to me either way. Whether they keep former format of SGA and SG-1 or start all over really doesn't matter. What does is that these people in control are not the right men for the job.

Well..I thought that this would happen as the show from the beginning was just there. No interesting characters, a concept that needed a rest, etc. So I'm not surprised or upset, I'm just curious to know what is on the SyFy network since this is gone and Caprica (a show that I liked, but I'll admit that it's boring at times) is gone?

On to new adventures! :)

Aren't they the same people that did SG-1 and Atlantis?

Warehouse 13 and Eureka will continue..Sanctuary's bound to be picked up. Haven was renewed for another summer run. The US remake of Being Human starts in 2 weeks. A new show to be run by DS9's Ira Steven Behr called Alphas is in production.

And we get Tiffany and Debbie Gibson in Mega Python vs Gatoroid this month.. What more can you ask for?

I just have to say, remember when the Sci Fi Channel (as opposed to SyFy) was the place to go to pick up a prematurely cancelled series? Remember when they would pick up series for a concluding season and they would be good- as opposed to the change and strapping and butchering. Ah, those were the days.

That's true. The things that are best about Stargate are the same things that were present in the original movie anyway. Sure, RDA had a lot of charm, but you can't build a whole franchise around one guy. If cancellation is the way to get rid of the current creative team and just start over, then cancellation is a good thing. Long overdue, really.

Which proves that it's the producers and not the SG:U concept that are dragging everything down. When Jonathan Glassner left SG-1 way back in the olden days, that was when it all started to slide downhill.

Well I just found out (this is what I get for not checking this forum out for a while). I have to say I am a little dissapointed. It sure wasn't the greatest show but I thought it was entertaining.

Not really, no.

Yeah, I don't remember that at all.

The only series I remember Sci-fi Channel picking up were Sliders and SG-1 (Which actually got Sliders canceled). Sliders was horrible, and SG-1 died a very VEERRRYYY slow sad death.

SG-1 didn't get Sliders canceled, First Wave did.

There was the Outer Limits, MST3K and Andromeda as well.

How did it die a slow death? It had three great seasons on Sci-Fi (6, 7, 8) and then the two that killed it.

You think the peak of the franchise was before season 3 of SG-1? I don't think many fans would agree with you.

That's more where it actually gained a lot of momentum.
When I think of favorite SG-1 moments the first character storylines which come to mind are Thor, Harry Maybourne, Ba'al, Matouf, Jacob Carter, Janet Fraiser, Bra'tac and Oma Desala.

Well I just finished the episode "Human" and it was one of the most powerful pieces of TV drama I've seen in awhile. As a widower myself I know first hand what its like to have to work so hard to make ends meet while your wife is dying when really your place should be by her side. And I also know all about the guilt and anger towards others in the aftermath of such a life event. I was in tears by the end. I will really miss this show when it ends. I don't know why people say these writers don't do well with character driven drama. They certainly have me sold and I don't emote easily when watching TV.

I found Human was trying too hard to be artsy and pretentious. Rush's dream sequence or whatever the hell it was has the camera focusing on random things like water pouring from a tap, or a kettle going off. And then the scenes were either completely still and silent with only dialogue being heard (boring) or they had that violin constantly going (annoying). It's one of my least favourite episodes.

Yeah, Stargate trying to go all avant-garde with that episode was pretty silly. It was also a total waste of Dr. Jackson.
