It's quite surreal what you can get men to do with a hobby horse ~ at first they snigger and sneer and next they're leaping on for a quick trot or teaching it golf!
I think most people expect that I will be home sooner rather than later, and that it would save a lot of expense and hassle to do it this way. I don't yet know how much longer I will be in Japan, so I did not feel the need to correct anyone on this assumption.

Yep, he's sorely needed right here. You could have your own "Bob's your uncle" thread, with tips of the day and such. "How to get, erm, closer to your local gym guy in 10 mins flat..." etc, etc.

Bob is off to Son's 18th birthday tomorrow night.
The bar could not have been more helpful. We have the top room. Party bags (with sweets,chocs, poppers, games etc...), masks (the gorgeous 19th century italian ones ~ harlequin eye masks, not the Scream ones!), champagne (and they're not charging me corkage!), confetti for the tables, and the cake is individual cup cakes on a stand, spelling out 'Happy 18th Birthday Son with the one helium balloon on top and individual indoor sparklers!
Bob and I cannot wait! Will post pics!
My neighbour who is coming with me to set up the place came round earlier to help with the party bags and my dress.
As she zipped me into one she commented 'It's lovely but do you want to be able to breathe let alone have a drink?' ~ I have chosen the other
What I'm really looking forward to is Son's father attending with his 'bint', his ex-wife and her 'what-ever' also being there.
I am going to be in a corner, wearing a mask, drinking champagne and laughing quietly to myself
