So, it's pretty clear that the Doctor liked hanging out with Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. He had a photo at the beginning of the episode of Frank and Santa Claus, and later on he took Abigail and Kazran on another visit to Frank (that led to the Doctor's quickie marriage to Marilyn Monroe). Now I wonder if the Doctor was there when Frank Sinatra had his throwdown with Harlan Ellison...I enjoyed it. There were a lot of fun bits, especially with the Star Trek homage, Doctor's initial visit to Scrooge via the chimney, jumping into the filmstrip, everything with the shark, and Marilyn Monroe.
The love story didn't bother me at all. He was her gateway to a life that wasn't drab, and after a lifetime of drab, she had six straight days of light and life and fun and adventure. How could she not respond to that? I bought the love story, though I thought that Abigail was more in love with the excitement of running off and having adventures with the Doctor and Kazran than she was necessarily with Kazran himself. On the other hand, I found the love story completely unconvincing. On the day that Scrooge shows up as a dweeby teenager, Katherine Jenkins suddenly falls in love with him? Did she even have any defining aspects to her personality?
there is no book of rules laid down for the Doctor to follow.
I've not read the rest of the thread, but I thought it was pretty poor. Some half-baked ideas and completely unengaging.
I even managed to find Smudger a bit irritating, and the preview of the next series didn't do much for me either. Pfffff, Doctor Who.
Smudger's a nickname often given to people with the name Smith. Or at least it was about 50 years ago.Did we see the same show? I thought it was great. "Smudger" I guess is Matt Smith(?), who continues to impress me. Why "Smudger?"
Anyone remember that first Christmas special when they brought back Only Fools and Horses? I suppose it's apt really, Rory is pretty much just Rodney.(although the 'Policewoman and the Centurion' is a new sex game on me)

do you mean the Event? will Doctor Who follow "The Quiz Broadcast"?oh well see you next season and christmas special...and the few after that
One day we will return to slow pacing and tin foil hats we just need the nuclear war first to set mankind backwards.
^The "Paris" comment is actually kind of interesting, since that was the last really high-profile overseas location they used (in 1979's "City of Death")
Rome? ("Fires Of Pompeii") Dubai? ("Planet Of The Dead") Croatia? ("Vampires In Venice")Amsterdam? ("Arc of Infinity") Seville? ("The Two Doctors")
In that case, none of the main cast were there. An historically inaccurate shot in front of the Statue of Liberty doesn't count.![]()
