NFL Talk - 2010-11 Season

I'm pretty impressed with Tebow. He showed a lot of stuff that has me hopeful for his future with Denver. The play-calling was pretty jacked up though. They obviously didn't trust him to throw a lot, hence the never ending stream of hand-offs and QB keeps. However, on the rare occassion Tebow was allowed to pass, they were almost all shots down field! It seems counter-intuitive to me. And, I feel like that strategy gave them no shot to win. When you're facing a lot of third downs, it would seem to me that you would like to occassionally just make a shot at the sticks rather than 30 yards down field.

Agreed. Awful playcalling. Only 18 passes...

^The safety had me pretty hot too.... you've been running for negative yards all day long, so what are the odds that a run from your own one yard line will end well? I would think slim-to-none.

One minute left, and the Pack have a good chance to pull this off!

ETA: Ugh, what a horrible way to end the game.

Matt Flynn...hell of a first NFL start and way to almost ruin my night. I don't recall the Pats getting a first down all night or even completing a pass, but I'll take it!

3:15 PM on a Sunday is the best time of the week to go to the gym. You basically have the whole place to yourself, and I watched the Eagles come back against the Giants on the TV there while on the bike.

I then hopped on a stair climber and saw the punt return to end the game. I had a bet with my wife on this game and picked Philly. I threw my arms up in the TD symbol when Jackson scored, and almost fell off the machine in the process.

It makes sense if you think about it, but it's pretty amazing to think that before today Green Bay hadn't had a back-up QB start since the first half of the '92 season.

Happy Holidays is effin' RIGHT, hahaha!

But Jackson seriously needs to cut back on the showboating. Some people seem to think that he was just making sure there was no time on the clock by running along the goal line before going in for the score, but considering the way he's acted in his career, and earlier this season, my money is on taunting the opponents. And that is pure bad karma.

He's a tool, but this is one instance I'm willing to give him. It's pretty easy to lose track of how much time was left in the heat of the moment. The way that game was going, the Giants would have somehow managed to score again with any time left on the clock.

It was taunting. Give me a physical break, guys. His track record proves it. He wasn't making sure the clock had run out. He's such a nice guy that he wouldn't taunt. Sure. :rommie:

Dan Connelly will be a legend.
Hate that it was against the Packers, but that was fun to watch. I guess Green Bay should have put some bigger bodies on the field when they decided to squib kick it towards Connelly.

I was expecting the Packers to get slaughtered, so I'm not too bummed about the loss. Can't help but think McCarthy's an idiot, though- with a little better coaching Green Bay might have been able to pull off the upset.

Tonight's game at TCF Stadium should be good. If nothing else, watching the fans pile in for general admission seating could be interesting. It will probably still be snowing at game time, but at least it's a lot warmer than it has been. The field stands a good chance of staying thawed for at least the first half.

Wife and I are big Pats - we were laughing and hollering during the whole runback.

Not sure who had a bigger return, him or Jackson, which is pretty funny.

The kind of abject failure displayed by the Giants in that situation totally deserves to be taunted.

I'm liking this outdoor football in Minnesota. NFC North games just feel like they should be played outside in the snow and cold.

*looks disapprovingly at Ford Field*

ETA: Oh, come on, ESPN. The Bears just crushed the Vikings and clinched the NFC North, but who do the cameras follow in the post-game mingle? Brett Favre!
