Hotel California
Its "The Joker" not Space Cowboy. You think? "Fly Like An Eagle," "Rock 'N Me," and "Space Cowboy" all come to mind for me before "Abracadabra" does...![]()

I can't believe I did that. I'm going to blame this on being a child of the Napster era, and it's horrible, horrible mistagging.

Yeah, don't get me even started on that. I know someone who's only Nirvana song is a song called "Half the Man." For those who can figure this out, or have encountered this before, that's wrong on so many levels.

Don't feel bad.. A lot of people make that mistake. There are also a lot of people who call "Livin' in the USA" "Space Cowboy," as the lyrics are in that song too. As an old DJ, I used to take that request a bunch.
I look at these lists as almost a "jumping the shark" moment.. Stairway, for most casual fans, was the pinnacle of Zepplin's success. Same thing for "Smells like Teen Spirit," and many of the other songs mentioned here..
"Tom Sawyer" is argueably Rush's most known song as well as most popular. Most devoted fans love the song, but I would venture a guess that we skip over it a lot on the ol' Ipod.
Same with Marillion's "Kayliegh".. As true blue Marillion fan, I love the song, but I cringe when people say it's the only song people remember.
As for other Canadian rockers, let us not forget Glass Tiger.. Great band that should have been known for more than just "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone"... Just sayin'....
You're both forgetting that, several years before "The Joker" (and the album of the same name on which it appeared,) there was also a song called "Space Cowboy" which regularly shows up on Steve Miller Band anthologies and can still be heard on a lot of classic-rock channels. While that may not have been the song Canadave had in mind, he's covered all the same. Its "The Joker" not Space Cowboy.![]()

What's the deal Canadians? No Triumph fans here? Rik Emmett was a guitar god with real talent who could play an acoustic like it was nobody's business. I wonder whatever happened to him?
I was just about to then saw you did. Can't believe no one's mentioned the Eagles' "Hotel California" yet.
Layla for Eric Clapton. Or Cocaine too. It's either one of those every time clapton comes on a rock station.
I'm not a Canadian, but Rik's still around. He's had a moderately successful solo career since leaving Triumph in 1988. There appear to have been some recent rumblings about the band reuniting to do some shows, but I'm not sure what the details are. What's the deal Canadians? No Triumph fans here? As for Canadian rock in general, I'm a big fan of everything from Triumph, April Wine and Saga to Great Big Sea, although I don't know if you can call GBS purely "rock"... Great Big Sea's last couple of CD's have been damn good and I loved seeing them when they came to ABQ in concert. Had a drink with Alan after the show. Nice guy!

I just saw GBS last week, myself. I must've seen them at least half-a-dozen times, and they're always a ton of fun.
