ENTER - Misc. Avatar Contest: Retro-Future / Future-Retro

Locutus of Bored

Yo, Dawg! I Heard You Like Avatars...
In Memoriam
In this week's contest you have a choice. You can either depict the present or future from the point of view of the past, or you can depict a past that incorporates futuristic technology (like Steampunk) or modern items designed or decorated in a retro style.

Here are some examples:

As always, no licensed material from movies, TV, games, etc. and the avatar has to fit the board size requirements (140x140 pixels or less, 70 KB file size or less).

Submissions will be accepted from now until Tuesday the 14th at 12:00 AM PST. Voting will last from then until Friday the 17th at 12:00 AM PST.

This is a great Theme. I'm going to have a hard time deciding on something. :rommie:

Well, I've got it narrowed down to these three:

Decisions, decisions....

^^ IMHO, the 2nd pic from the top is too busy -- all the details get lost at that small size. And pic number 3 is rather dull. So I’d go with the first one.

agreed
Thanks. I'm inclined to agree. The small size doesn't help 2 and 3; also, the first one best captures that 50s concept of the future.

^^^ Yep, that counts. It was a vision of the "personal computer of the future." It only took up one whole room.

My entry. The personal flying machines of the year 2000, as seen from 1900:

About half the predictions are remarkably accurate (though designed through the lens of the day), the other half, not so much. The series of postcards were produced by Hildebrands Chocolates.
