How to get from the fourth floor lectures to the ground floor of the Technische Universität München:

I have often been wondering why there weren't any slides, just like these, in buildings I had to spend time in...

How about you?
Would you be using such a slide -if they had it where you frequently have to get a few stories down- or would you feel more comfortable on the stairs (or locked in an elevator)?

Despite my age (52) I am a child at heart and would love to give one of these a try.

I wish that older people could let their hair down more without embarrassment and without people showing their disapproval. I talked my sister going onto the Gee Whizzer with me and she said she felt embarrassed waiting for it to start. She didn't enjoy the ride like I did.

We had such things at the adventure- playground when I was a child. I have to say I was always a bit scared of them, cause they were so dark inside and such small space and so fast and they smelled so metallic and in the sun they were quite hot and when you tried to go somewhat slower, it hurt on the hands or people were already coming down fast behind you and bumbed into your back and it was too loud, with people screaming of fun inside those tubes... but I used them anyway, plenty of times, however mostly I guess because my older cousins did and I didn´t want to stay behind or have them call me a chicken. ;)

We need adult sized playgrounds.
However much I agree with that, isn't the world an adult sized playground?

I mean: take a mountain, cover it in snow and just watch what crazy contraptions 'adults' will come up with to slide down it!

That looks fun. Of course, I see why they wouldn't have something like that in my places (takes up way too much space). But hell yes I'd use it if I had one.

Actually I think it uses much less space than an elevator or stairs (at least if the building is designed for it). It would be more useful if it worked in both directions though. ;)

Well, I found out that bounce houses are not meant for adults--and they should be!

For those unsure, a bounce house is a huge inflatable that the kids jump in and on and around--google it. A friend had a bounce house birthday for her son and invited me and Hubby. Aside from the parents of the birthday boy, Hubby and I were the only other adults--the ones without kids--as none of the parents stayed. Try watching a 6’ 1” man try to fit through (at our friend’s friendly insistence) something meant for a 4' kid! Even me, at 5’ 1”, got winded trying to get through it.

But it was FUN!

I used to study there and used the slide. But as a student, you aren't on the upper floors in the building too often (mostly offices of lecturers), so it's more for deliberate fun than transportation. It's pretty steep at the start, so I actually braked a little with my feet the first time I used it only to then stop 2 metres before the end of the slide.

Not regularly, I think. At least, I've never seen one use it, but I'm pretty sure nearly everyone tried it out at least once. Even the Bavarian Prime Minister did when he presided over the opening of the building. I didn't know many of the lecturers who had their offices there, though, because as physics students we only had our big lectures there as guests, more or less. The building houses the faculty for mathematics and computer science.

They just need some ladders to go with the chutes.

That's awesome if you're anywhere near a mountain.

There's only so much playing I can do in a cornfield.

Also, I WANT ADULT-SIZED MONKEY BARS!

Anyone who's been to a haunted house during the Halloween season laughs at the puny-ness of this slide.
