The shattering is here! Deathwing is unleashed! Azeroth will never be the same....

We have a general WoW thread that goes back a while, but it's been quiet and stale lately, so I thought it might be a good idea to start a new thread to talk about our experiences during the new Cataclysm expansion.

I just downloaded the 4.0.3 patch and watched the opening cinematic again. Something about seeing it coming from my game instead of on YouTube that made it just that much cooler. I like the title screen too, I'd only seen it briefly in stills during Blizzcon.

First order of the day once the patch comes up: explore Orgrimmar and UC and then do a "quick" run around the world and get my bearings.

I like that background. Any chance someone can get an image of it without the login junk?

Still contemplating reopening my account to play around with this for a few months....maybe after exams/over Christmas. It sounds/looks pretty cool.

I've thought about it too, but the way I like to play WoW is way too hardcore and time consuming to fit into my life anymore.

My roommate and I rolled trolls; he's a mage and I am a druid. I tried balance druids before, but this time I went feral and it is way more fun. Plus I am the tank for our duo, so dungeon wait times are short!

Been playing this a lot. I'm loving the changes to the old world and to the leveling system. My Troll druid is already level 59.

My favorite zones so far are Silverpine and Stonetalon Mountains. Awesome questlines in those zones. I've only seen about 1/4th of the new content.

That's about where I'm at right now. I'd really like to continue playing, but between the hours in my current job and wanting to go back to school in the spring, I just don't have the time. Just hopping on for a few hours here and there doesn't seem to cut it for me.

I already had Loremaster, but I'm going through the remade zones to get the new quest achievements. After about ten hours worth of play time I'm almost done Eastern Kingdoms. The new quest chains are brilliant, it's amazing how streamline the zones are. No more hidden NPCs and seven spots in a zone you can pick up quests. There is certainly some kind of downside to that, but there are still achievements to encourage out-of-the-box exploration and it will definitely make questing faster for old hands and more intuitive and enjoyable and modern to new players. Cata is really bringing the game up to a fresh standard in a lot of ways, it almost feels like a new game.

    Everyone get their sunflower pet?

I refuse to get that thing. My best friend has it, and every time it starts singing, it drives me up the wall. >.<

I have to admit, I've found tanking on my DK fun for the first time in about 6 months, so I'm pretty happy. While I like my prot warrior a lot, I have a lot of sentiment for my DK. She was my first 80. :)

    Four more days!!! AMG!!!!

I'm pretty excited. I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off to level my warrior to 85 or thereabouts.

I've got Thursday and Friday off, followed by my regular Sat and Sun off. Had something important to do at work Wednesday so I didn't want to take it off, and I figure Tuesday will be a miserable experience from a server reliability perspective and due to the starting zones being absolutely packed with people the entire day. Launch day for WOTLK wasn't very fun, I suspect they've learned a bit on the hardware side of things but there isn't anything you can do about 1000 nerds all trying to kill the same mobs.

Just ordered Cataclysm online, also bought myself a L'il Ragnaros pet. I had no idea he could also be used as a cooking fire!
