Star Trek: Indistinguishable From Magic in spring 2011

The copyedit manuscript for Indistinguishable From Magic has arrived, and it's fucking *huge* - 578 pages! Bloody hell, I didn't think it was that big...
How does that usually relate to the final MMPB?

If printed as is, I think it should be the same - but the edits are handwritten, so might alter it when typeset, and it'll be shorter or longer when anything's cut or added.

Ah, so looking forward to the end of the month when I can get my fix again. And it won't stop for several months. :)

I'm cutting some stuff, so it'll probably lose 30-40 pages but should still be comfortably over the 500 mark when all's done...

As I am a bit ignorant of the process, is the copyedit manuscript something printed on A4-sized sheets for editing, one page per typeset page, or something else?

Just curious.

Well, the copyedit version isn't typeset yet. It's just the raw manuscript printed out and marked up for revisions. It's the galley proofs that show the typeset version of the book, one page per page. In my experience, the page count of the final typeset novel is lower than that of the raw copyedits if it's a really long book, because they use a smaller font size.

Yep

Usually I see two per page at this stage - but that may be different on a Trek book than others.

Comparing word count to finished book, I figure it'll end up coming in around 450-470ish, based on other books I've done

Oh yeah, you're right, the galleys for an MMPB are two side-by-side pages per sheet of printout paper. One page per sheet if it's a trade paperback. Essentially, actual size.

Meanwhile, have a cover:

Was the decision to use, what looks like the Enterprise D (even though it's not) on the cover of a TNG novel intentional, or is it just coincidence?

David,

Are there any other TNG crew that are in the book cameo or otherwise say like old baldy(Picard) or the bearded one(Riker) or the dude with the bumpy forehead (Worf)... Etc, etc.....
