One of our own members, thestrangequark, floated out to sea on a lilo when she was only 5. She wasn't even scared. She drifted for several hours and a massive search was conducted for her.

I think they are also called lilos in the UK. No idea what Americans call them.

In Australia the thing in your photo would be called a floatie.
Air mattresses don't go in pools. Air mattresses go on the floor for sleeping.
I would call that thing a raft.
"Porpoises Rescue Dick van Dyke" is not a sentence one expects to ever read. I do hope that some band will presently come out with a song by that name, though. And I'm glad Dick is okay-- and still surfing at 84.

He was the "Not My Job" guest on NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!" not long ago, so I knew he was still around. He even has a new stage show.
I guess one of the hazards of surfing at age 84 is falling asleep on your board!

And he was one of the best NMJ guests the show has had in a while. He even sang the lyrics to the Dick Van Dyke show, and Peter sounded like he had an Orgasm. It was just really really cool.
I'm glad he's ok, and I do think it's cool that he's still surfing at that age.
