Look around you. This is the Internet. Are you sure?

What makes a real Scientist?
^ This cannot stand. (ruffles hair)
Better now?![]()
The question might be a confusing one, if so sorry.
My thought on this is:
A scientist is a person who not just smart or have a career in science. A scientist like Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawkins. What makes them scientist isn't that they accomplished, its that they have Imagination, they have dreams, and they are absolutely curious about anything, and that they don't let someone else tell them whats impossible, they experience it themselves and see if its Impossible to them.
That is my thought on what makes a scientist.
Still has that imagination, that isn't held back by scientific facts.
What drives them to explore is both science and they fact that they believe that saying the skies the limit, is actually setting a strict limit.
They don't let someone else dictate whats real or whats impossible to them.
A white labcoat.
And a chemistry set, with beakers, test tubes and a bunsan burner.
The test tubes should be filled with brightly coloured liquids and displayed prominently. Papers with important looking equations should be strewn about all over.
Be sure to have a couple of biros sticking out your lab coat's breast pocket.
Don't forget a massive blackboard with crudely drawn but easy-to-understand diagrams on it.
And wild, unkempt hair.

I'm sorry, but that sounds like the exact opposite of a scientist--at least the parts about not being bound by "facts" and rules and whatnot. It's also unfair to characterize people who follow the scientific method as lacking in imagination.
Being able to think up fanciful bullshit does not make someone a scientist, nor should it. A scientist, at the core, investigates the workings of our universe in a systematic way. This doesn't necessitate a lack of imagination--rather, it requires it because one must often find clever or unusual ways to test a hypothesis or run an experiment.
You seem to think "scientific facts" are some kind of shackle or deterrent. All new science is built on research that came before it. While one needs a good understanding of how we got to where we are today, there is no need to "reinvent the wheel" and confirm every basic scientific assumption for yourself.

I don't think you have very clear what is to be a scientist. What you describe may be a dreamer, a nonconformist, maybe a visionary. Which is great, and a scientist could be like that in some regards. But that doesn't even come close to define what a scientist is, or does. The question might be a confusing one, if so sorry.

Lemme ask this, how many scientists have you met in real life?Scientist today(the people in the white lab coats) are shackled by the fact that a lot of them let the impossible hold them back from even doing a small expirement(which would take the scientific method) to see if certain things that they are interested in(Ex. Warp Drive) are possible.
lol wut?I know what I write can be confusing, but I never meant that a scientist is someone who just throughs all science to crap and lives in lala land.
