Wonder Woman headed to the small screen

If I ever hear that this show is about a young Wonder Woman in high school who nevers puts on her costume, I won't even bother to watch to watch the first episode. I've had enough of that crap from Smallville.

It's not...actually we don't know what is going to be about other than it is a Wonder Woman series.

Fair enough. But over three million people felt otherwise.

Which doesn't mean that's the only way to handle WONDER WOMAN, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't find a large audience.

Quality has nothing to do with ratings, as shown by all the bad shows on the air right now.

Anyway, those ratings aren't really that impressive. Smallville survives because it is on The CW. On any other real network, 3 million gets a show cancelled.

At its peak, Smallville was getting more like 5-6 million.

But as I've remarked before, there is absolutely no reason to expect this Wonder Woman series would be anything like Smallville. It's a different media climate, a different network (we don't know which one, but of course the WB doesn't exist anymore), a different showrunner. I mean, come on, it's David E. Kelley, the guy who brought us Ally McBeal and Boston Legal. The man has a very distinctive creative style all his own, so worrying that a show he runs will be too much like somebody else's show is just without any basis. If there's anything to worry about, it's that there will be too much of Kelley's characteristic campy, self-indulgent style and puerile obsession with sex.

David E Kelly means Gina Gershon.

David E Kelly means English actresses.

David E Kelly means Shatner as Zeus.

David E Kelly means ranting about Americas shortfalling

David E kelly means Numbers at the bar.

David E Kelly means that the men are going to be proud to be neanderthals and the women are going to mock them for it.

(I am so happy.)
...

Just as long as Gill Bellows comes back as Maxwell Lord, obviously a different Maxwell Lord, no relation to the Smallvillian Maxwell Lord, but Maxwell Lord never the less.

3 seasons as Billy and Kelly blighted the frack with a Brain Tumour.

They have a working relationship. :)

There is no reason why both series cannot be in the same universe with completely different tones. The Practice, Boston Legal and Boston Public were all set in the same world, for example.

And so was Ally McBeal; a guest character from that series went on to a recurring role in Boston Public, and there was a 2-part crossover between AMcB and The Practice, the kind that begins on one show and concludes on the other. Meanwhile, Kelley's Picket Fences and Chicago Hope crossed over with each other. And if you dig around the links on that site, you can make a case that those two shows are in the same reality as Kelley's later batch of interconnected shows, but it's quite a tenuous link.

You want a strange crossover? Cheers exists in the mind of an autistic boy who also imagines his father and grandfather work at a hospital called St. Eligius. That means Wings and Frasier are also figments of his imagination.

And it's even bigger than I remembered.

"In 2002 writer Dwayne McDuffie wrote Six Degrees of St. Elsewhere for the Slush Factory website, the earliest version of the hypothesis to be found online. In a 2003 article published on BBC News Online, St. Elsewhere writer Tom Fontana was quoted as saying, "Someone did the math once... and something like 90 percent of all television took place in Tommy Westphall's mind. God love him.""

I'm watching "In Practice".

I didn't know who one of the new actresses were.

My eyes caught the credits a few minutes ago.

Debra Winger.

I haven't heard hide nor hair about her since the early 80s in some Harrison Ford movie...

Wonder Girl from the 70s is still reasonably hot for a woman almost exiting her 50s.

OH.

Drusillia was her name in the 70s Wonder Woman TV show. That explains a little. I thought it was quite weird when Cassie the current Wondergirl in the comics when she went to ground took on the alias "Drusilla" because to me the name is either in reference of Caligula's sister/lover or the homicidal Vampire maniac from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

....

Apparently there's some tenuous link between MASH and Happy Days which just exploded this TV 6 degrees of separation all to hell.

Unless it's on CW I don't think "Smallville" and "Wonder Woman" will be in the same universe. It's always possible...not discounting it, but my gut feeling is that Kelley will want to separate the series from "Smallville". They could have it in the same universe, having Diana emerge into Man's World some years after "Smallville" if they wanted to since Themiscyira was shown on newspaper headlines on the Daily Planet. I think there was also a headline that stated Amazonian Queen visits United Nations or something like that early on.
