Looks pretty good but I can already imagine the comments people who are unfamiliar with Tintin will make about how goofy Tintin looks with his haircut.

While I'm still disappointed that Moffat dropped out of the production (but for a very good cause) and now there's multiple writers involved, I'm still very excited about this film. One thing that causes me to worry: I haven't heard anything about Professor Calculus and who's playing him despite the fact this film is suppose to cover Red Rackham's Treasure (in addition to The Crab with the Golden Claws and The Secret of the Unicorn).

Also, this is the first time I've heard that Cary Elwes is in the film.

I gotta say it looks pretty damn good.

I was never a huge fan of the cartoon or books, but I've been meaning for years to give them a second shot in my advancing years. I'll probably do that and then figure out if I want to see the movie or not.

I have to say, I am getting a little tired of some movie sites and their snobbery towards this project. There's a bit of a "why would such big-name directors care about a comic that's popular in Europe and not America."

Anyways, uncanny valley alert, for sure. I just don't find this animation style all that interesting.

Yeah, when I was a kid, a bunch of people I knew (along with myself) read Tintin and watched the cartoon a lot. I've definitely been following this project with interest.

Ditto. Looking at those pictures I pretty much just said "Ugh. This looks like it's going to be horrible." And in the picture in the link it looks like he's flipping us off.

I've seen conflicting reports on who he plays. This source is the only one I've found that says he's playing Calculus whereas other sources say he's playing Aristides Silk.

Moffat left the production two years ago to takeover as the Doctor Who show runner. He left the production after completing the first script but there has been some rewrites by several other scriptwriters.

I remain suspicious of the look in general, but I've gotta say that the Haddock and boat pictures look pretty darn good.

However... I'm concerned about Tintin's look/age portrayal:

That pic looks to me as though the movie is going for the 16-18 range, whereas I've always thought of him as a young adult, 23-25 or so, fresh out of college - old enough to be a legitimate (though very young) reporter, but young enough to still be looked on as a boy of sorts.

I fear that even if the movie is good, my age 23-25 conception will prevent me from enjoying it. We'll see, I guess...

^ I've always seen him as being in the late-teens range, myself. This may have a lot to do with watching the cartoon fairly often as a kid, where he's voiced as though he was pretty young.

Yeah, I agree. At the very least, I picture him in his early 30's. Though what they can do with that is make it a prequel and if it's successful enough for it to be a franchise, they can age him a bit.

He's a cub reporter, really - he has to be old enough to travel the world on his own, but still young. I always figured he was meant to be maybe 19-20ish

Thing is - he looks like Calculus normally! Why would he be playing anybody else?
