Where are my NaNoWriMo peeps at?

I'm going to take a stab at it this year. Unfortunately, there's about a day to go and I still have no plot idea.

Eh,, just pants it and see how it goes. I'm doing sci-fi myself. I'm combining two things I love the most- sci fi and the Gilmore Girls. :bolian:

This sounds AWESOME. :bolian:

I was worried it was a crap idea, but you're the 3rd person I've pitched it to who loved it.

I tried NaNoWriMo last year, but I got too busy and couldn't finish. This year I won't be able to because my thesis is due in mid-December and I'm behind schedule. (Maybe I can make that count...a novel about the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act...)

Since I'll be done with school next semester, I'm definitely going to give it a try for next year!

I say use as much research from it as you can reasonably squeeze in from it and do it next year.

I was planning to start in the morning, but if I'm still up in 10 minutes when it turns midnight, I might start early.

Of course I love it, I love the Gilmore Girls (watching it right now, in fact) and I love sci fi! :D

I did my first thousand words at midnight last night, need another 1,300 to hit my daily goal.

Woohoo! It's here! :)

I considered staying up last night and starting, but I nodded at the computer and decided bed would be best.

I have a goal of 2000 words a day. With a bunch of kiddos, I will probably be writing at night (like today) or early in the morning... or both. I've got a very basic plot and a reminder to just write and not rewrite. (That's for when I'm finished.)

Anyone else got some writing done today yet?

Unfortunately, I have just moved house and we're in the process of getting everything straight. The likelihood of me getting ANY time to write this week is slim at best and then i'll be trying to catch up the rest of the month.

If I can get time to write tonight, I'll try and keep going the rest of the month. I'll sign up today if I get any writing done.

My genre will be crime; "Murder, She Wrote" style crime, with a librarian.

I have decided to write a fantasy story about an evil Princess who uses Jurassic Park science to bring Mastadons and Wooly Mammoths back to life so that she can build an Ivory Tower out of their tusks.

Coolness.

At the NaNo Forum (in the Sci-Fi section), someone started a post called "It's like ____________ meets __________"

So anyone who cares to share, sum up your plot!

Mine: It's like The Right Stuff meets Anne McCaffrey's The Rowan meets Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series meets The War of the Worlds.

(I think I did mention that my thing is a piece of space opera fluff, right?)

Now your turn...

1836 words so far!

Btw, if anyone hasn't already, I highly recommend looking up Nano Myreportcard 2010. It's a spreadsheet available from the official site and perhaps elsewhere as well considering the demand to the site currently. All you have to do is enter your daily word count and it calculates the rest. It's awesome.

2,029 words so far today. I might try to squeeze out some more or I may just call it a day.

This has been fun. I like the tone of the book and my main characters so far have been fun to write. And I really have missed writing dialogue. :techman:

ETA: Oy! Getting into the NaNo site with this air card is hard to do tonight.

ETA Part Deux: Here's a link to the report card. That spreadsheet is pretty damned neat.

Ok I'm in.

I usually write scifi or crime, so what is my genre: chick lit

I must be crazy...look for me under brotherbenny.

Leftover Women...sold as a mail order bride, leaves the abusive bastard, hooks up with a janitor, finds help with other women in her situation, end.

Today I start to write.

I'm 5,015 words in to a sci-fi/political/conspiracy sort of story. I think it's going to turn out a bit 24 meets Firefly with some old-school style Mafia thrown in.

I'm 4,951 words in so far. I think I'm going to go for an even 5K before the night is done (2 hours to go). I'm trying to get 2k a night before the ticker turns to midnight. At that point I start the count all over again. :D

I have written one paragraph and one sentence in the next paragraph. I am so behind!

Dude, that doesn't' matter. It's one paragraph and one sentence more than you started with. The only thing that matters is getting 50k by the time this whole thing's over. :D

I am up to 4,419 now and calling it a night. I had a crazy-busy day today and didn't get to writing until after 11 pm. I'm shooting for 2,000/day -- so I'm still on target. Got the first chapter finished. (Golly, this is such a rough, rough draft. I'm going to have a major rewrite ahead of me after all is said and done. LOL)

Going to bed now! *yawn*
