Miscellaneous Street - The Soap Opera

As he is walking down the street to the pie shop and bookstore, he notices an odd, orange flicking light in the window of the coffee shop. Investigating further, he discovers that someone has left a coffee pot on and the orange light he has seen flickering is the coffee pot burning...

He runs back to call the fire brigade.

Jenee finally uncovers Daniel's face. "Ruh, ruh rum rud!" he yells, the ball gag obscuring his words. He's happy to be alive, and furious that she let him worry like that. Ignoring his protests, Jenee climbs on...

Several loud minutes later (after all, it's quiet-as-a-mouse Daniel wearing the gag today), Daniel starts to notice a burning smell. Later still, he sees an orange glow underneath the door along with wisps of smoke:eek:.

"Rum ruh RUH RUH!" he yells.

Jenee, yelling various loud incoherant things herself, is oblivious to his warnings.

"RUNUH!! REER RUNNU RYE!!!!"

Still nothing...

Daniel's tied up and gagged, Jenee's oblivious and the coffee shop is burning....

The Crazy Cat Lady has decided to play Miss Marple and snoop around all the houses to see who is missing a garden fork. She thinks this choice of weapon to kill the victim means that it was an opportunistic killing with a weapon that just happened to be close to hand.

Ziyal sits on her front steps, rereading for the thousandth time the letters she has received from far, far away. She ponders her options...

She likes this town. Sure her neighbors are eccentric, but then so is she. And she's already comfortable in her little cottage. But she's been here less than a month, and there've already been two fires and a homicide!

And now she's got an offer to move elsewhere. With someone very special who she'd thought would never ask. Until he did. But is she really ready to move... not to another new town, not even to a new country, but to a new planet? Where she would know no one, except him?

She's grateful that she doesn't need to decide quickly. He loves her, and he will wait.

After taking about fifty pictures of the corpse from all angles (and using the opportunity to sneak some nice candids of female partygoers in skimpy costumes), RJDiogenes turns toward more shouting from the direction of the coffee shop. He quickly runs off to help Captain Ice fight the burgeoning fire.

As he passes, Deranged Nasat, he says, "Page 137, page 137."

Jenee becomes aware that Daniel, while writhing uncontrollably, seems to be writhing to a different tune, so to speak. She looks down into his eyes and sees not passion, but terror.

Of course, this puts a damper on her own passion. She removes his gag and waits for his explanation.

Once she figures out his near incoherent babbling, she hurriedly unties him and reaches for her clothes.

Unfortunately, mostly for the townspeople, Daniel doesn't let her take the time to gather up her clothes ...

Upon arrival of the fire truck, Captain Ice grabs a fire hose and starts spraying water through the second floor windows. As he starts spraying water through the second window, he hears a loud shriek that could only come from Jenee as a half-clothed Daniel fights his way through the stream of water and jumps onto the awning below.

Though he still has plenty of room on his camera's memory card, RJDiogenes decides to not take any more pictures.

Daniel, nude but for his rumpled SG-1 jacket, staggers back and forth under the window.

"I'll catch y-!" SPLAT.

Soaked Naked Jenee was (as usual) one step ahead, and Daniel hadn't yet recovered feeling in his arms. She sits now on the grass, in her birthday suit, the picture of innocence and tranquility while Daniel writhes in agony next to her. It appears his shoulder is dislocated.

The coffee shop burns...

MLB arrives with his own fire truck. He apologizes for being late, however he was assaulted by a masked figure, who had left him tied up and unable to move before he could respond to the fire alarm. A squad of paramedics leap off the back of MLB's fire truck and tend to Daniel. "We're going to have to operate..." (dramatic music ensues)

Dimly, and while being distracted by the pretty lights and blaring sirens, Deranged Nasat recalls words of advice once shouted to him in passing. It was probably long ago, or possibly this very morning, he can't really tell. Page 137 it is! He starts reading aloud, though any effect might be altered due to his need to shout incoherent nonsense every other line, as well as an excess of "Bugrits".

"Surgery!!?? No! Oh, my poor Daniel. I'm sorry! I'll never ... "

...who is that crazy man shouting obscenities at my burning cafe?

^Hippy Lady recognises the tramp who was shouting "Bugrit! I tol' em!" at the burning cafe, and wonders if he may have witnessed the murder. The tramp had rudely turned down her kindly offer of nutritious vegetable drink, so she must resort to other methods to gain his trust so that she could question him. Perhaps a sausage inna bun...?

As Captain Ice and MLB attempt to contain the Coffee Shop fire, RJDiogenes alters the Halloween party spell to bring a steady rain down upon Miscellaneous Street.

As Captain Ice and MLB attempt to contain the Coffee Shop fire, RJDiogenes alters the Halloween party spell to bring a steady rain down upon Miscellaneous Street.

That might save the Coffee Shop but it will probably wash away important evidence from the body.

Why haven't the police arrived yet?

^^ Do we have any?

* Alters the rain spell so that it only falls on the Coffee Shop. *

Trek City must have some police but I guess our little section doesn't.

The Crazy Cat Lady will have to continue with her investigation. She pulls off the ring from the dead man's finger. Inside it is engraved "And then a thousand more".

In the man's pocket she finds a smaller ring that is engraved "Give me a thousand kisses".

While being loaded into the ambulance, Daniel grabs Jenee with his good arm - "The fire may not have been an accident. There's already been one murder. Be careful! If whoever it is gets me in the hospital - avenge me!"

Is it the morphine, or does Daniel suspect something? Just as the ambulance doors close, he yells one last thing - "...and for God's sake, Jenee, put some clothes on!"

The ambulance drives off.

Ziyal grumbles, "If an ambulance can show up -- thank goodness! -- why the hell can't the police?" Grateful that at least the postal service works properly here, she resumes reading today's letter... :luvlove:
