Ooooh, I loved Fable 2 and can't wait for Fable 3.

I wonder if the free weapons are available for anyone in the markets outside the US?

I guess I'll find out next time I switch the ol' Xbox on. :D

I loved Fable II and I have already pre-ordered Fable III :D Unfortunately Amazon has said it's not even gonna ship it until a week from release day!

I will pick it up at some point. I loved the first Fable, found Fable II slightly underwhelming but still fun. Hopefully Fable III knocks it out of the park.

Played the first one on the PC about a year ago or so and enjoyed it. I will definitely pick up 3 at some point, but I have yet to play Fable 2. That'll be one of the first games I get when I eventually buy a 360. Unless it shows up on the PC first (a long shot probably, but I can hope).

I just read a couple reviews for it and I'm concerned about this "no menus it's a mansion you walk through instead" bit. That sounds really annoying and twice as time wasting...

^ That doesn't sound good at all. I hate it when they make otherwise great games more complicated and time wasting than they need to be.

The reviews have actually said it's a good thing that immerses you in the game, but it just sounds like unnecessarily complicated to me. My copy is supposed to have shipped now so I'll find out in a few days!

So far, I quite like the Sanctuary hub. It's a neat little area that fits within the Fable world's lore and I like the details that go into making it a real place. I'm early in the game, so it's not very large yet (you unlock areas - clothes, weapons, etc. - as you progress) but I think referring to it as a "mansion" in any sense will give an exaggerated sense of its likely full scale. My only small complaint with the Sanctuary so far is that it does feel a little cumbersome to have to go there to save once the Sanctuary is accessible. Until you uncover the Sanctuary, you can save through a traditional menu but once you have access to the hub, the Start button will always take you there, where one of the options in the first room is the Options menu that allows you to Save. Other than that one minor issue, I don't think the hub is unnecessarily complicated; I do think it adds to the immersion. Plus your John Cleese-voiced butler Jasper is there, so that's enough for me!

Yeah, I've read nothing but positive things about the sanctuary hub. Normally I would be cautious about such things as well, but if it is as well implemented as people say then perhaps its worth a shot.

There are a lot of stupid things - there's no inventory screen and no easy way to access the quest log or mini map.

But otherwise the base game is mostly the same.

I played about 1.5 hours of it last night until I had to go to bed. I like how the main character is no longer mute, but has dialogue. The interaction with the townsfolk is also neat. I like it so far.

I played it up to meeting the librarian. Like all RPGs it starts slow so we'll see where it goes. The graphics are gorgeous, and the pause screen isn't as bad as I'd thought it'd be. Anybody if you can pause it like that in the middle of combat though?

Pressing the Start button during an in-game cutscene will bring up a traditional menu (the same Options menu that you use until you can access the Sanctuary). During a pre-rendered cutscene, pressing Start brings up a menu that asks if you want to skip the remainder. Doing so while in combat takes you to the Sanctuary.

I don't know if there are big boss fights but could I stop playing and save in the middle of such a fight and not lose progress?

I'm not sure if it lets you save in combat, but you could try it?

I'm sure most people are interested in breakout out of combat because they want to get the "beat the game without dying" achievement.

I'm in a big battle with some Hobbes right now but can access the Sanctuary and save. Not sure if it qualifies as a boss battle, though.

Edit: Went into the Road to Rule after defeating the Hobbes, so I imagine it does count as a boss battle. More importantly, this section of the Road to Rule allowed me to finally purchase the Entrepreneur Pack so that I can start buying businesses! Rich revolutionary, here I come...
