High school cliques

^

Actually, no they haven't. Unless you live in a gang-infested dumpland like Texas or San Francisco, chances are relatively small of being harmed by classmates due to "cliques" or whatever the new term is.

Texas is gang infested? I always thought it was safe place. San Francisco, I'm not surprised, since So Cal is like gang capital of the world.

San Fransisco isn't in Southern Cailifornia. :) I was surprised at those examples as well -- then again, when people think of Seattle they don't usually think of gangs either.

You're right. l should just say Cali, not specifically SoCal. Excuse my geography haha

My junior high school back in the late 80s fit the stereotype of the popular jocks and unpopular/socially awkward nerds to a "T". Except this was Southern Ohio, so we were all pretty much stupid hicks. Though it was bad to be a nerd, it was worse to dress poor/be poor. I had both going for me unfortunately. :alienblush:

We had jocks, preps, nerds/geeks, punks, and freaks. It wasn't so bad in High School but in Junior High school it was really pretty terrible. There was the one poor mildly retarded guy they used to pick on unmercifully. They called him "aids".

I still hate a lot of those people, and teachers. The way my memory works it's like a lot of this stuff just happened yesterday.

We didn't have what I would refer to as cliques, but there was a lot of bullying going on, especially of people who weren't wearing expensive clothes all the time (my school was very close to one of the richest districts in Munich).

On the upside, there was literally no violence to speak of.

I never understood why kids cared about clothes other kids wore...so stupid.
Kids are like that. Cruel. And stupid. Just like many grown-ups

truthfully, i think i can safely say that we students were more cruel towards our teachers then to each other. i believe our record was... hmm, the teacher lasted maybe 25-30 minutes with my class before she resigned. first day on the job too. and we were her first class.

we were infamous for our manners. after my classmate blew up the principals car and burned down one of the buildings, i changed schools. went to a different one that was closer instead.

to tell the truth, i dont know if i should laugh or cry...

My graduating class was composed of 20 people. So, no, there was no room for cliques.
24 for mine. We definitely had cliques. It was a bit fluid with some mingling between two or three groups, but there were basically a divison between two main groups. Same goes for the whole upper school.

It was more visible in the cafeteria, with certain groups sitting in one side of the cafeteria and the other on the others side of the cafeteria. And no, there was no racial divide (concerning cliques). It didn't really matter.
