Tea. Earl Grey. Piping hot.

Decaf Twinings Earl Grey was on sale the other day, so I bought some to try w/ my next episode. Ended up drinking it w/ Monty Python instead. :)

The only reason I ever tried it was because of Picard.
I'll never drink it again, I don't drink coffee either.

I like good o'le sweat iced tea

I've shared this in a similar thread from a while ago, but I guess it bears repeating. One day I was at the grocery store about to get whatever tea I usually had been buying, when the Earl Gray label caught my eye. At the time I was going through a really heavy TNG-watching phase, and I immediately thought of Picard. Because of Picard, I impulsively decided to buy Earl Gray instead and see what it was like. I liked it, and that is the only kind of tea I have purchased since that time. Without doubt, I would have never tasted Earl Gray if it weren't for Star Trek.

^ I wish tea was taken more seriously in the USA. Twinings has phenomenal offerings overseas, but in the USA it's very limited. We don't even have those terrific sachet tea bags, let alone the diversity of flavors. Anyway, that's the situation in the grocery stores. At least great tea can be purchased on-line. :)

I strongly recommend diversifying. I love Earl Grey (hot, with milk and honey) but it's nice to shake things up about. Mint... Chai... what I think of as 'regular' (RedRose).

As for Picard drinking tea at all hours, the computer probably served decaf automatically, based on knowing his shift schedule. And there's no reason he had to specify 'hot' every time!

Iced tea is wonderful - mint iced tea is anyway, iced Earl Grey doesn't sound very good - but it's iced tea. Not tea.

True story, 100% canon!

During the height of the Changeling Scare, Worf programed Picard's replicator to monitor his beverage consumption.

One day Picard decided to order a Jack-And-Coke... Cold, Tall Glass, No Ice.

He spent the next two days in the brig trying to convince everyone that he was NOT a shape-shifter, damn it.

Yup. Had a cup today.

But my current obsession is red tea (rooibos) w/ cinnamon and honey.

That's too bad... even just north of the border, there's always a good selection of Twinnings tea available in the grocery store. I have a box of Earl Grey in the kitchen right now, actually.
