Ironically, Sybok was originally going to be played by Indiana Jones' dad.
I actually rather liked Luckinbill as Sybok, but David Warner would have been spectacular. It would have given him a lot more to do in that film.I always thought the casting of Star Trek V should have been inverted: Luckinbill should have played St. John Talbot, and David Warner should have been Sybok (he'd have been awesome).
I thought Luckinbill was fine as Sybok.
should ideally be played by an iconic actor
I thought Luckinbill did a great job as Sybok, I liked him. If somebody like Connery had done it, it wouldn't have felt like a Trek movie, more a Connery vehicle. (I also don't rate him that highly as an actor...)
I forgot about that! I guess it was somewhat poetic, since the show started out at Desilu.should ideally be played by an iconic actor
Lucy's son-in-law? Sorry, that's good enough for me.

Indiana Jones also didn't feel like a Connery vehicle. And what many people forget is that Connery would have brought more money into the production.

No, he probably would have taken more money out of the production. Big names get big money.

Yeah, but you would also get more money by having him in the movie. You see, it works both ways.
