Good-Bye TNG (for now)

Willieck

Commander
Red Shirt
Finished TNG (again). On now to DS9. I loved Pre-emptive Strike with the final sad farewell to Ro Laren and as usual I thoroughly enjoyed All Good Things. It is a strange story but there are so many good bits in it; far too many to remember. I love Data's servant ('E looks like a bloody skunk")

Well don't be a stranger in this forum, ya got it? ;)

Funny, TNG is the one thing I tend to watch nightly on TV re-runs. I guess it helps to keep my brain clear...that and for some reason, it never gets old for me. Enjoy DS9!

It's fascinating how we each choose to watch TV shows. Do you normally watch Trek in a continuous run, Willieck? With an almost overwhelming quantity of Star Trek to choose from, I usually use a random number generator to select a series, season, and finally - an episode!

Strictly in order, then when I have watched all the the TV series, the movies, then start again. It takes about a year.

I tend to watch in order, too. When I bought my Next Gen DVD's a couple years ago, I watched them straight through. Then watched TOS on Netflix. Am now working on Enterprise. Will probably go back to TNG before tackling DS9.

I do it the same way except it takes me like 3 years. And I integrate TNG/DS9/VOY so that I'm watching them more or less along an in-universe timeline.

Pre-Emptive Strike is highly underrated in my book. It gets overshadowed as it came right before the kick ass finale.

I agree with you but I supposed they felt they had to tie up a loose end before the series ended.

That's interesting, do you have an exact point where to jump in with DS9 during the TNG chronology? Same question for VOY>DS9.

Going by the official points, it would be the middle of the sixth season of TNG for DS9 and the... tenth episode, I think, of DS9's third season for Voyager.

I always like to place Emissary directly following Chain of Command Part 2. Not only does it create some nice continuity, Picard mentions the Cardassian withdrawal from Bajor in the episode.

Once the BluRay re-release of the series is upon us, which will in all probability be in the next few years (2017, perhaps for TNG's 30th Anniversary?) I will once more begin my viewing Trek from Farpoint on planet "Deneb Four, beyond which lies the great unexplored mass of the galaxy."

A year? Really? Do you watch more than one episode a day? I went through all the series and movies once starting on January 1, with Broken Bow, and when I got to Endgame it was the middle of June--18 months later.

In that instance, I watched only one episode in the evenings.
