Most in TOS costumes, both series and movies. Though Trek was definitely a very very small minority compared to other themes.
Obviously Anime themed characters were the most prevalent, though beautiful women in the authentic Princess Leia slave outfits were my personal favorite.
Favorite panel was the Women of BSG. Very gracious and funny considering some of the incredibly stupid questions they had to field. They gave out T-shirts to people who asked intelligent ones.
Best part of conventions like this is all the people dressed up as their favorite character and posing for pictures. There were literally entire families (mom, dad, kids, babies) dressed as superheros (But not a single "Incredibles" themed family as far as I could tell).
Talked to one of the guys from Smith Micro (maker of Poser). Some good stuff coming down the pike for those who use it.

Too much stuff to talk about in a single post. It's still going on as I post this, but came home early because of a hotel snafu and didn't have a second night reservation. Unless you want to pay 400+ USD for a single night in NYC, there were no rooms available withing easy driving distance. So I came home early.
Drat. Sunday is the best day to get deals and discounts.

Well, here I am at Comic Con. It was a bad shot taken with my BlackBerry:

Right, I'll post some tomorrow or the next day.
No Trek related photos though, if that is alright?
I have a couple that are Not Safe for Work, but not X-rated either.
So if the admin says it's OK, I'll post much of what I have.

Hey, I was at this. :) Well, on Sunday.

Getting to see Christopher Judge (SG-1), James Marsters (walked close enough I could have touched him...wow he's short) and Lou Ferrigno in person was pretty cool, though I only talked/got a picture of Christopher.

I was actually only in the NYC area because I had a family wedding on Long Island on Saturday...a discount program at work had reduced-price tickets for NYCC and the date was right, or I never could have made it.

Took about 70 pics, but I don't think any are Star Trek-related. Still, I can send out a URL or such whenever I get them posted.

If jojolimited or anyone else would like to open the discussion up to a broader SciFi/Fantasy topic (and include the entire Comic Con) I can always move the thread to the General SciFi Forum. There you can post all the images and discuss the show without limiting the topic to just Trek. Just give the word and I will hit the button. :bolian:

This is a PG-13 board. Any images you would like to post would need to fall within that limit. If not, as long there is no nudity, you can give a link to them instead. Please note them as NSFW.

I never would have known about it if not for that work-email program I mentioned in my earlier post. As-is I think I might try to go next year, though preferably with one or more friends. I can't imagine making a weekend of it without other people, in any case.

Move away. I found out about via the weekly newsletter put out by Roddenberry, or else I would not have known.

Find a program like Photobucket or Imageshack; upload your images there and then post the links or image codes here.

There were allot of folks in cos-play because they combined the Anime convention & the Comic Con this year.

    M. Night Shyamalan was there on Sunday to promote the 10 year anniversary of "Unbreakable". However, they were very slick. During a normal comic con Q&A, you just walk up to the mike and ask your question. For him, they made you write down your question and then they picked which question they felt should be addressed inorder to weed out disgruntled fans questions.

Lou Ferrigino really does live in Queens, so he's usually there every year.
Most nicest guy you'd ever want to meet.

I couldn't say whether Lou's a nice guy or not, but he was charging $40 for a signed(?) polaroid if you wanted your picture taken with him. That was a bit steep for me.

Christopher Judge was pretty cool. I was able to take a picture of him, though I couldn't take one -with- him.

My own unscientific survey indicates that Harley Quinn was the costume for the fashionable fangirl this year. I saw plenty of Catwomen, Storms, Poison Ivys, Leias, and even one green-skinned Starfleet lieutenant, but the Harleys were practically bumping into each other. It sometimes seemed like you couldn't throw an oversized mallet without hitting a Harley . . . .

The only problem with all the impromptu photo ops, alas, was that they frequently blocked traffic in the crowded aisles on the main exhibition floor. People were packed so tightly it felt like the West Village on Halloween night.

There were dozens and dozens of Hit Girls, some not even female.
At least 20 flashes, many a pirate and yes anime cos-play.
I'll have to create a flicker account, but first need to reduce the size of the pictures to something manageable.

So whats the story with the folks wearing the costumes at these things? I havent been to a con since the early 90s. Back then it seemed to be fans wearing their own homemade costumes. Now I have to wonder sometimes they hire people to wear the costumes.

Nah. I think it's still mostly fans showing off their homemade costumes--and basking in the attention of other con attendees. I saw an entire crew of X-Men wandering down the sidewalk to McDonald's--including the amusing sight of Storm pushing a baby carriage.

The only exceptions would be the booth babes working the GREEN HORNET booth or whatever.

Okay, next time I'm planning to go to NYCC I clearly need to pay more attention beforehand. Far too many people I would have liked to have met there. A TrekBBS meet-up would be kinda cool. Though I was only there Sunday.
