I saw this story linked on Aintitcoolnews and rather expected that there'd be a post here about it. I'm surprised to see there isn't.

I'm posting a link to the original story on digitalspy, but as I'm inherently a technospazz, I won't even attempt to do the invisotext, so I won't include the spoilers either. Nice of them to mention Liz, but why the FUCK is the Brig in Peru again? And I guess this is where RTD wishes away the regeneration limit. Looks like we get some flashbacks to previous Docs again. Awesome. Depending on how RTD handles this story, could be decent. However, knowing RTD..........

Honestly, it seemed pretty obvious, even in the classic era that if/when the Doctor made it to his thirteenth incarnation some form of extenuating circumstance would allow him more regnerations. Once it was done with the Master, precedent had been set. Also isn't there some legend or something indicating Rassilon had infinate regenerations? There's no reason to actually believe the Thirteenth Doctor will be the last. Unless the ratings are really in the toilet when the show gets to that point.

I always believed the timelords kept the regen limit in place while they were alive because Rassilon went all megalomaniac.

No timelords, no limits.

The Wormhole mentioned the Master. Maybe they didn't so much give him a new set of regenerations as just remove their own limitations to allow more lives.

We really will have to wait for Doctor #0013 to find out

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse by saying this yet again, but I want the regeneration limit to stand. I want to see The Doctor face his mortality when he's on his final regeneration and see how that affects him. When he dies, he stays dead. No last minute fixes.

I know, I know, as long as Doctor Who remains popular, BBC will not want to end to show based on a few lines mentioned back in the 70's. That being said, we probably won't have to worry about that for at least ten years assuming Matt Smith and his following two successors average 3-4 years.

If you have the leading zeroes you limit yourself to 999 doctors, without them one can count as high as desired!

She met 5 at the same time she met 1-5. She also met 6 and 7 in Dimensions in Time. She's not met 8 or 9, as far as we now know.

So there going to address the whole Doctor's life limit in a spinoff, with some throw away line . I don't like the ideas of no timelords no limit, that makes no sense why would there presence have an effect on what seems to be a natural cycle of life/death. If anything extending it would mean you need them around and if it wasn't so simple you think he might of mentioned it by now.

Theres a chance for a real great story to deal with it not some line in a spinoff most Do Who fans won't watch.
