Do you wash?

It's a pleasent day in England, certainly not sweaty hot - so why, when I went out, did so many people stink?

It's not even "been jogging/working out" smell, it's "festering for weeks with puke in pockets" smell. How hard is it for people to just wash? I'm sick of having to hold my breath while walking down isles, or passing groups of (usually slack-jawed, vacant-eyed and overweight) people.

I think I finally understand the phrase "unwashed masses".

I'm scruffy and have zero fashion sense, but I'm always clean. Staying that way isn't hard.

Sometimes I will wake up and make a conscious decision not to shower before work, but I only do this if I already showered right before bed. I hate being dirty. I usually shower twice a day.

Twice a day (at least), and a fresh set of clothes every day. Water and laundry shops are cheap in Hong Kong

I shower every morning when I first get up. If I am stinky at the end of the day, I shower again. That's pretty rare, though, because I am not particularly corpulent and I don't have a tendency for diaphoresis.

I have to wash before going for the first time in a day. I can stay all day in my apartment, but once I have to go out for anything, it's time to jump in the shower. Luckily, it only takes me five minutes.

I've come to realize lately that my skin tends to break out if I don't shower right before bed. It helps keep my sheets clean, too.

I shower at least once a day. What the hell? Are there people out there bathing once every couple weeks?

One of my old college roommates would only shower about once a week. It was weird, though, because he never smelled or got greasy or anything. If I hadn't lived with him, I probably never would have noticed that he didn't bathe. When he did shower, however, he would be in there for at least 45 minutes.

If you don't stink after a day or two then I guess you can get away with it, but I suspect most people can't.

I normally shower once a day, sometimes twice (like after sport or when I got really cold). If I do not shower twice I wash myself thourougly at the basin instead. However I would feel not good, if I didn´t shower at least once. I find body hygiene (and tooth-hygiene) important. I also love to bath and if it would not be so enviroment unfriendly I´d do it everyday...but because of the enviroment I restrict myself to not bathing all the time. Though if I decite to bath you will not get me out of there for at least one hour...much to the annoyance of my flat-mate, who always needs to use the toilet exactly then, when I am relaxing in a hot bath.

I live in an old house with no shower, just a bath, so some mornings I sponge bathe over the sink if I'm running late. Being on a water meter doesn't help when you have a huge 1930s cast iron bathtub. We're planning on having the bathroom redone, complete with shower, but what with the original lead plumbing it's going to be costly, so it could be another year before this happens.

I shower every morning, unless I'm planning to stay home all day. Then I will sometimes just not bother, since I live by myself, and there's no one else around to offend. But if I do change my plans in such cases, I will shower before I go out. That's just common courtesy, IMO--along with washing your clothes regularly, wearing underclothes, brushing your teeth, and applying deodorant. I too wonder why some people can't seem to meet even that minimum standard of personal hygiene--especially in a country like Canada, where water is cheap and plentiful.

Not too long ago, I had to go without a shower for two days, in the height of summer, when the road crews outside my apartment building hit a gas line, and we were left without hot water.

That was almost intolerable, and I was really looking forward to a shower that third morning--only to discover that the aformentioned road crews had now hit a water main, and we had no water at all. Since I could hardly stand myself by that point, I checked into a hotel and showered in my room. I would have sent my hotel bill to the city, if I thought there was any chance they would actually pay it.

I miss the old iron tub I had in a previous house. I usually showered, but an occasional long soak in the deep tub was wonderful. I hope yours has claw feet, like mine did!

I shower every night before going to sleep. I can't stand the idea of sleeping without showering.
