^ I did some checking. Wiki entry on the 2010 ALDS says this:

The matchups for the series will be the AL team with the best record vs. the AL wildcard team in one series and The AL division winner with the 2nd best record vs. The AL division winner with the third best record. If, however the AL team with the best record is from the same division as the wildcard team, the matchup will be the most winning division champion vs. least winning division champion in one series and the wildcard team facing the 2nd most winning division champion in the other series.

I went to Kauffman tonight and saw the Minnesota/KC game tonight. Good, fun, awesome game. We murdered them 10-1! Kila Ka'aihue who got a 3-run homer in the first-inning, a 1-run homer in the third, walked in the fifth (considering his first two at-bats probably not a bad idea on the pitcher's part.;)) and then just shy of a homer in the seventh but ended up with a Triple instead, the next batter would get a homerun.

This is a guy I plan to keep an eye on and someone I hope the Royals hang onto. definitely a player we need to keep!

Thanks again, Cubs! Giants win tonight, Pads lose...Giants go to 2 games up in 1st!

It happened almost right on cue. I was flipping back and forth from the Giants game and WGN/MLB Network (Both showing the Padre Game) and the Padres lost first, turned it to the Giants and Wilson got the final strikeout.

Up 2 games with 5 to play. Fantastic.

Exiting stuff! Can't wait for tomorrow!

The West is the last division to be decided with the Reds clinching the NL Central tonight. The Giants' magic number is 4. Easier said than done, but all they have to do is keep winning and hope the Pads lose a few more. I can't even begin to imagine who sweet it would be to clinch the West at home...especially if it's before SD even rolls into the Bay Area.

Wow, the Reds make the postseason for the first time since 1995.

I guess having playoff experience will make their players more valuable to trade when they have their fire sale in the offseason.

YES!!!! The Reds clinch!! It's been 15 long years since they've been to the playoffs. It was electric listening to the 9th inning on the radio as I was driving home. From Aroldis Chapman's 1-2-3 top of the 9th to the first pitch walk-off homer by Jay Bruce.

I also think this is success that can be sustained. With their young pitching who's had success this year: Mike Leake, Travis Wood, Johnny Cueto, Homer Bailey and Chapman. (And that doesn't count Matt Maloney, who spent most of the year in the minors, but did have a couple good starts subbing for injuries.) And the young position players with Bruce, Joey Votto and Drew Stubbs.

But that's next year. Today I'm going to bask in a long awaited playoff berth.

Go Giants, Timmy tonight.

Flux, the camera had picture of a couple in the crowd that looked like you and your girlfriend. I'm guessing it wasn't you after all since you aren't posting pictures...

I was really hoping for a TB-Minn ALCS, but the matchups don't seem to favor that right now.

The little team that could vs. the team that was rumored to get contracted would be a nice storyline, albeit not a ratings win.
I'm hoping the Twins face the Rays right off the bat since the Twins seem to always have trouble with the Yankees (this year the Twins haven't done well against the Rays either). I'd rather see Texas face the Yankees- I think they have a better shot of taking them out. I'm having a hard time rooting for the Yankees right now though.

I think the wild card is going to come down to the last day of the season. I'm really worried about facing the Phillies again.

^ hey, I live in Omaha where the O-Royals are, and look who I root for. :D

Looking forward to the '10 playoffs. Still hope the Yanks can clinch AL East...
