Way to go A-Rod!! :techman:

And I'm glad Girardi decided to go with Hughes today. I don't think Moseley has enough experience just yet.

Edit: YANKEES WIN!!!! JUAN MIRANDA WITH A WALK-OFF WALK!!!!!

In other news, a jury convicted Andrew Gallow of murder in the drunk-driving deaths of Angels pitcher Nick Adenart, Courtney Stewart and Henry Pearson. A fourth passenger was severely injured. Gallow was also found guilty of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury.

In a separate ruling, a judge found Gallo guilty of driving on a suspended license.

Amazingly, Gallo's attorney is proclaiming the verdict to be "a miscarriage of justice," because Gallo, whose license was suspended from a prior DUI, was too intoxicated to realize the consequences of his actions when he got behind the wheel that night.

With three convictions for second-degree murder, he's looking at 50 to life, so I have no doubt that he won't be a threat to society anytime soon.

I'm hoping he didn't try that argument in court. You might be able to convince gullible people out here when they hear that statement out of context, but you can't convince 12 people who have been told by a judge that they're basically guilty with that argument that there's anything to say but guilty.

Before they lock Gallo up for decades, they oughta drag him out in front of a packed crowd at Angel Stadium and make him beg for mercy.

And on a completely unrelated matter: Somebody stick a fork in A.J. Burnett...he's DONE. :(

Edit: Right now I'm watching the White Sox / Red Sox game. My God, is Hawk Harrelson a blowhard or what? Every time this guy opens his big fat yapper I don't know whether I should :guffaw: or :barf: . And it's not just the "He gone!" either. This guy is the most blatant 'homer' I have ever heard...

Halladay with a complete game shutout to clinch the division (and home-field for as long as the Phils remain in the playoffs). This never gets old.

Can't wait for playoffs with Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt on the mound!

People like for their TV and personalities to be homers. Leave the objectivity to ESPN and TBS.

^ Still, Harrelson's going over the line, IMHO. "He gone" might be somewhat endearing, at least up until the 1000000th time you hear him say it, but when he does that crap about the White Sox being "the good guys", calling the Twins "Twinkies", or actually openly cheering for the WSox players during a game, that is not fun to listen to. I would bloody well hate it if Michael Kay acted like that. It's one thing to be enthusiastic for one's OWN team; openly slamming the opposition is not. That's bad sportsmanship.

(And no, for the last fucking time, I do NOT listen to the Yankees radio team, so please DO NOT bring up John Sterling or Suzyn Waldman, because I FUCKING NEVER LISTEN TO THEM. )

^ No, I didn't. I only mentioned Michael Kay. I claimed that he was not a homer, and then this happened.

Still scratching my head over that one, really. Michael Kay is the TV guy. Sterling and Waldman are the RADIO team. If I watch Kay, I do not hear Sterling and Waldman. They are completely separate broadcasts. So if we're going to discuss Michael Kay's homerness (homericity?) or lack thereof, why are they relevant?

Hell yeah it should be fun this year.

BTW, where can I get that hat?

Thank you Cubs for helping the Giants tonight. Giants entering the week with a one game lead. Atlanta didn't help too much but at least it makes things interesting. I am worried about Arizona though. The D-Backs have played the Giants Tough this season and it is in the division. Hopefully they do their thing, and they are in AT&T. That's going to help.

Indeed, I was watching the Cubs/Braves game play-by-play on MLB At Bat on my phone just hoping the Cubs held on to that one run lead. Gotta love being a full game ahead...no more of this half-game crap. I'm cautiously optimistic about the next 6 games...AZ has indeed been tough. I was there for that 11-3 blowout against Zito...and that was at home. Hopefully they've gotten some good momentum going this past road trip (going 4-2, not bad especially against the Rox at home) and can gain some ground. I can totally see it coming down to a sudden death 4th game against the Pads though if they bring it to a tie. I'd probably have 911 ready to be called for that kind of drama.

CC really came through tonight...Yankees clinch a postseason spot. :techman:

So the ALDS is set: Yanks, Rays, Twins, Rangers. Should be fun.

I was really hoping for a TB-Minn ALCS, but the matchups don't seem to favor that right now.

The little team that could vs. the team that was rumored to get contracted would be a nice storyline, albeit not a ratings win.

Now they won't know which format the ALDS will be (Yanks-Twins and Rays-Rangers, or Yanks-Rangers and Rays-Twins) until the season is over, is that right?
