^^ Videodrome. Freaky shit!

Correct.

"You might slide in and out of a hallucinatory state afterwards. If you do, just relax and enjoy it. It will soon go away. But for now, you might find a little S&M will be necessary to trigger a good healthy series of hallucinations."

Frankly, I prefer getting my hallucinations the old-fashioned way -- with some good drugs!

I'm stumped.

Judging from the clothes and hairstyles, I would guess it was made in the 1930s. I'm not too familiar with that era.

I'll give another hint:

It's a famous film that was adapted from a popular stage play at the time (written by a famous author). The title was changed, along with some scandalous plot details.

The film was later remade almost thirty years later by the same director, given back the original stage name and had the so-called scandalous elements put back in.

Blythe Spirit?
Couldn't be. That one was in color.

These Three. Based on Lillian Hellman's play The Children's Hour, but with the accusations of lesbianism changed to a heterosexual love triangle to satisfy the Production Code.

I'm going to presume I'm correct and submit this little goodie:
