Green Shirt meant that they could be the hands of the same model used for Doohan's hand shots, but I thought they always used Doohan's own hands in closeups, and he was careful to hide the missing finger. Ummm...how can you hide something that isn't there?
Reminds me of this limerick that my Dad loved to recite:

By positioning his hand in such a way as to conceal the stump of the finger.
He overlapped his fingers while operating the transporter in particular.
I watched Mirror, Mirror last night (not the remastered version) and noticed a minor error at the beginning of the show.
Kirk finishes speaking with the Halkan council and calls the Enterprise to beam up.
He closes the communicator and drops his hand to his side, holding the closed communicator in his hand with both arms straight down.
When he starts to materialize aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, one arm is bent at the elbow and he is holding the communicator up near his mouth.
When he beams aboard the I.S.S. Enterprise in the different uniform, his hand is back down as his side again.

According to James Doohan himself, when he was a guest speaker at Star Con in Denver in 1989, the finger was shot off by a machine gun.
Was that from enemy fire or just being a klutz?
"Oops! Sorry about that, chief."
He always said the Nazis shot it off, and then finished with the zinger: "I gave the Nazis the finger!"

According to Doohan at Space Trek in St. Louis in 84 or so, he told the audience that he lost it when the hatch of the tank he was in came down on his hand and cut his finger off.
I've just watched season 1 episode tomorrow is yesterday and when the enterprise beams out pilot John Christopher from his fighter jet he's gives kirk his name and rank of captain.
But later when kirk tells Spock to get him to change out of his flight suit they meet In kirks quarters and hes wearing gold for command but only a Lt stripe.? Strange thought he would of holded the same rank as kirk. ?

Maybe the rank of Captain in the air force during the 20th century is the equivalent to Lieutenant in the Federation in the 23rd.
Heck, the lowly rank of Captain in the U.S. Air Force is the same as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy even in the 20th century.

I just watched Tomorrow Is Yesterday again recently and I noticed something that didn't seem right. I am not sure if someone mentioned this before but why is it that when Capt. Christopher is beamed aboard the ship he is standing up. He was flying his jet when they locked onto him, so why wasn't he in a seated position on the transporter pad?
They probably didn't want the inadvertant humor of his falling on his ass to make the episode get off to a bad start.
