CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Holy crap, look at that upper body. It's as if he stepped right off of a Rob Liefeld cover. :p

They were filming scenes for this near where I live in Manchester, England. On the city centre's Dale Street. Missed the filming though! :(

With those biceps and those feet, it's like Arnold Scharzenegger reproduced with a Hobbit.

^ You're welcome. Try to put it out of your head before you go to sleep tonight.

I'm thinking end and perhaps his target just got away in a helicopter?
I know the whole movie's a complete fantasy, but were helicopters around back then? I mean, as an acceptable mode of transportation?

A few new pics of a 1-2 man craft have appeared. It looks like an escape module, wonder if its also a submersible.

It appears to me to have the same type of design as the Hydra bikes. Perhaps its a Red Skull escape pod?

They announced on the radio yesterday that they were filming some of this in Manchester, and that the public was welcome to go down and watch and check out the set. I wanted to go, but was stuck in work all day. :(

Entertainment Weekly continues to get first looks of upcoming superhero films. They recently had the first look of Green Lantern and now its Chris Evans in the Captain America suit.

I have a subscription so I'm sure there will be a few more pics inside. At least I hope so.

I like the costume and his shield is my favorite aspect of it...don't like the expression Chris has. Don't think it works for a magazine cover shoot even though it might be true to the character. Steve is rather serious.

Still not fond of the costume. I'd much rather it looked like the main continuity version instead of the oh-so trendy & hip Ultimates version. Evans is looking the part, though, and Weaving will make a great Red Skull.

^^
How do you feel about other set elements then?
They have the era combat and dress uniforms looking good.

I like how in this inset it describes Chris getting into costume.

It takes Chris about 25 minutes to suit up. "He likes to do it all by himself" says costume designer Anna Shepard. "I think it helps him feel like a superhero."

He
wears the original version - that's actually what he's wearing under the leather jacket but it looks so silly in real life that it's treated as a joke in the film and Rogers get a new costume designed by Howard Stark

This stuff looks great. I love most of the casting, too. But this...

Is awful and really makes me fear for the tone of the film. If you think the costume of a superhero looks silly, maybe you shouldn't agree to direct a film adaptation. Problem solved. Christopher Reeve wore a near-exact copy of the comic book Superman outfit in his movies, and I've never heard anyone hear he looked silly in it. Ditto Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. Why? Because they both wore the costumes with confidence and conviction. If the actor thinks he looks silly in his or her costume, then yeah, that feeling is going to come across onscreen and the audience with pick up on it.

I'm really surprised that this disdainful attitude is coming from Joe Johnston, the same guy who directed The Rocketeer, one of the most sheer FUN comic-book adaptations out there. What's happened to him in the last 19 years?
