Will I be healthier?

There goes my appetite

You don't need lettuce or spinach in salads. You can make a coleslaw with carrot, cabbage and mayonnaise, or a 'proper' greek salad without lettuce, or you can fry up some asian greens and chicken or prawns. The possiblilities are limited only by your imagination.

That said, lettuce and spinach do make for some legendary salads. Try a ceaser, with lettuce, parmesan, croutons, crispy bacon, a fried egg and a creamy mayo/anchovy dressing.

I guess the answer is clear: fruit juices don't necessarily make you healthier. Health in terms of fitness has to be a combination of proper nutrition and exercise. Calories In vs. Calories Out. It's been said that you'll need a 3,500-calorie deficit to lose a pound of fat. That's 500 calories more to burn or less to eat in a day during the week.

I'm proud to say that I lost some weight over the summer, and I feel significantly healthier as a result. This is a combination of my daily cardio exercise regimen and a more healthful approach to eating. Of course, it isn't always easy. ;)

During the workweek, my co-workers and I have been going to this neighborhood café to get some very tasty salads. The ladies like the Mango Chicken salad, and I usually get it, too, or the Chicken Caesar. Mmm-mmm! Everything is made fresh right there and then. They even make the croutons in-house, and the chicken is grilled every day! There's lots of protein to go with the greens. The portions are abundant but don't make me feel guilty or indulgent. I swear I could eat their salad(s) every day of the week and never get tired.

Dinner is a different story, especially living with family members. My mom and dad usually cook a variety of seafoods, meats, and vegetables, all very tasty and often hard to resist. Still, I try my best to limit my meat intake.

Although, a nice cold glass of Bolthouse Farms Mango Lemonade hits the spot. :D

Yeah, Indian "salads" generally consist of cut up tomatoes, onions, maybe some cilantro, etc.

I like to chop raw tomatoes, onions and cucumbers, throw in some mung bean sprouts (which I've soaked for a bit prior), and mix it all with a little lemon juice and salt if I feel the need. My husband thinks it's disgusting, but that's the type of "salad" I was raised with and it cuts out the need for traditional dressings and greens that don't do much for me.

We had Indian salad on Saturday night, with cucumber, beetroot, tomato, spring onions and mint with a yoghurt dressing. With jeera chicken and freshly made chapatis. Needless to say we got an Indian to make it for us. Then she and the OH beat me at Trivial Pursuit. Pah.

I do like cooked cabbage, can kale be cooked as well?

Ive tried the Pom pomegranet(sp?) tea, the one that comes in the tall glass (I still have the glass), but I didnt care for it...I didnt know they made non-tea juices too.

One thing i love is mango juice by those latin brands but they have sooo much sugar so I just bought a light version, hopefully it wont taste too different.
