So the smoke WAS forming into Darkseid right?

All we need is a Paul Revere type saying: The Darkness is coming! The Darkness is coming!

I'm taking the fact that we saw the suit not once, but three times in this episode that at some point we will finally be rewarded with the ultimate money shot of Welling wearing it, even if it's only the last 30 seconds of the series finale.

I never thought we'd even get to see the thing on the show, so... this is a big step.

Just finished watching it and thought it was one of the best premiers the show has done in a long, long time. First and I can't believe that I'm going to say this but the acting was pretty good, especially Erica she was excellent in this episode. The corrupted Luthor clone was fascinating and now that Alexander is the only one left supposedly and now has his "Mercy" the show has it's set up for Michael to appear at the end of the season if he wants. Cassidy by the way was outstandingly hot. Was anyone else creeped out by the scene of the two of them near the fire place and that awkward look of serenity on Tess's face? I still think we're going to get something revealed about her later in the season, that old woman didn't go into her room for nothing last season! I got emotional during the Jonathon and Clark scene, short but sweet and impactfull. That cloud of smoke did indeed form into Darkseid and I believe that Godfrey or Desaad was torturing Ollie. I must admit that this was a fantastic start to this season and the threads are in play to make this a great season, let's hope they don't fumble the ball like they normally do.

I liked Lexsferatu although I question why he would be bald since Real Lex isn't naturally bald but rather as a result of meteor trauma.

We could quibble that Lex was bald, and never regained the ability to grow hair, because the "meteor rock" changed his DNA in that minute way.

Is Tess a Lex Clone?

The technology at that outpost should have only been compatible with Luthor DNA.

His mother?

Alexander cut off some

Unless it's universal like Vampire blood on True Blood?

The kid did cut off a patch of skin above his ribs and used it to heal and raise Tess...

Wow how biblical (there's a lot of that going on.).

Adam's rib made eve and all.

I liked it. I'm glad that Lois knows about Clark. I think it sets Smallville apart from other Superman-stories by having Lois find out so early and largely figure it out herself instead of having him reveal it. It does show that Lois is a great investigative journalist.

The show felt a little low key to me. It didn't quite have the urgency of the finale, except for the meeting between Clark and Lex's clone.

I was hoping that Oliver had been kidnapped by Big Barda or the Parademons. Don't know who the actual kidnapper was and was hoping that we would get a name or more of a hint that they work for Darkseid. Didn't care for the CGI for Darkseid's appearance at the end. I thought it looked horrible, and was very reminiscent of Brainiac's emergence in the season five opener. I thought Brainiac's appearance was better done and much cooler.

Did enjoy the evil Lex clone. He looked like he could be related to John Glover, and he seemed to have a bit of Glover's and Rosenbaum's mannerisms, so that was neat. I wish they had kept him around. Rosenbaum's Lex is my favorite but this guy was alright in my book. It's an interesting theory hinted at by some that Tess could be a clone of Lex's mother. I wouldn't mind if they went that route.

Seeing Johnathan Kent again and of course the suit were the best parts of the premiere for me. I hope Clark gets to just straight up fly sometime this season and definitely rock that suit. Seeing that its Superman Returns costume, I guess nothing goes to waste.

I still think Granny tampered with Tess somehow, resurrected her and it will be revealed maybe in the mid-season cliffhanger that is promised that she is a Female Fury and was regenerated using Apokolipan technology. I think that it is clear now that Tess had some kind of short lived romantic relationship with Lex and he was not only impressed with her beauty but her intelligence and cunning and thus elevated her to a high LuthorCorp exec and made her his unseen protege. The way the corrupted Luthor clone acted around her would seem to indicate that at least to me.

I think one of the reasons Rosenbaum has declined to return is that he doesn't want to shave his head again. I say let him keep his hair. He can always lose it again later.

But here's the question: Does Little Lex have all the same memories that Observer Lex had? Or does have the memories that Rosey Lex would've had at that age?

LL probably recognizes the mansion, but does he know who Tess is?

I agree with you that Granny had something to do with Tess' resurrection, but why dump her at Cadmus Labs? (Unless that really WAS Lex under the shawl, sitting there knitting in the hallway!)

Granny Lex? Mmm...

This was average...some sloppy editing and I am sure they cut some really good stuff for commercial time...was ep like 30 minutes?

Mama Tess +
Pa Kent & Clark +
CGI Darkseid +
Chloe's scenes +
Mackenzie Gray(Alistair Kreig from Cyborg) as aged Lex clone + I thought he did a great job. +

Ollie scenes -
Lois -

Over all it didn't live up to the hype for me still a solid premiere better than alot of them.

Not the best episode, but it had some good stuff.

Loved the homage to Superman #75...

Looks like they're going the Lex Luthor II route. Maybe not, but it looks like it...

It was where Lex died and put his mind in a clone, posing as "Lex Luthor II". If they go that route and bring back Rosenbaum, then he doesn't need to shave his head. Speaking of Lex, the other actor/clone angle worked for me, but it'd be nice to have Rosenbaum back. Imagine that scene with Rosenbaum. How cool would that have been?

Clark's in the Bardo-World.
I thought "bardo world" too.

I'm amazed, I didn't expect that Ally would still be in the opening credits.
I was waiting to see if she'd be there too.

So they are gonna drag out Lois knowing for the whole season, great
My thoughts exactly.

I think he was flying, here is why:

1.) Look at the debris from the ball falling as he catches the globe, it keeps falling in real time as he jumps up to it, so it isn't slow motion in that scene.

2.) He shows control as he lands on the roof, he ends up turning his body around while in the air before he lands to face the crowd.
Imagine if he didn't jump high enough and fell back down to the street.

Isn't that cute, Teschmacher took Little Lex home.

Maybe he'll grow into Michael Rosenbaum by the series finale.
I liked that scene with tess crawling to little Lex. Looks like they're putting her in a "mother" role. That'll be good.

I also liked the Jonathan Kent bit. Jor-El basically says it's his destiny to be a destroyer and Pa Kent says he can be whoever he wants to be. They touched on that in one of the earlier seasons and dropped it. Glad they're bringing it back.

Pretty much sums up my feelings as well; the stuff that was good was good, though not long enough. Some other parts needed tweaking. Probably better than Season 9's premier, over all.

And Jet, many, many thanks for providing me with my new av!

First and I can't believe that I'm going to say this but the acting was pretty good, .
See I thought just the opposite, it seemed to me like everyone was just kind of going through the motions and didn't really want to be there--especially Welling.

I just didn't think it was that great. It's just like they threw a bunch of stuff at the wall and hopped something would stick and nothing really did.

Overall, I think it was pretty disappointing. While probably the best premier in a while, it still paled in comparison to seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5.

In the trailer for next week we saw Clark's second costume

He looks like a greaser from the 1950's

Wow that was fast

Lois vs Lex, Clark vs Lex Clark catches the Globe

I don't like it either. I don't know why they couldn't have just gone back to the old jacket and just added one of those Superman tee-shirts that you can buy at any novelty shop.

The season premiere was more than pretty good, but not yet excellent. Out of 1-10 I would give it a strong 8.

I was. If that was their intention than they hit it out the park. Cassidy did a really good job with that.

Seeing as though Lois was the last to know, it doesn't show that Lois is a great investigative journalist.

Lois in 'Lois and Clark' figured out for herself without Clark revealing it to her.

Smallville (Season Premiere) 1.3/5 2.90

Good? 3+ would have been better.

Wasn't a big Lois and Clark fan so I didn't know that. Just because Smallville's Lois was the last to know among Clark's circle doesn't negate her investigative ability.

I think one of the reasons Rosenbaum has declined to return is that he doesn't want to shave his head again. I say let him keep his hair. He can always lose it again later.

Oh dont give me that... Actors shave their heads all the time for roles. Heck even I shave my head from time to time. And it grows back to normal male hair in about 2 months.
Rosenblaum just wanted to distance himself from the show. He didnt want to get typecast as Lex. Thats the real reason. And how is his acting career doing by the way... On vacation again?
