Stop blowing things out of proportion. Nobody's trying to convert you to "our" way of thinking. There are about twenty people here who don't like the movie, and of those, there are about five people who hate the movie so much that they feel they have to harp on it with every post they make, whether the post had anything to do with the new movie or not. And every one of those five people feel they have some sort of victim complex when others don't agree with them or counter their arguments.
Everyone else seems to like the movie, or at worse, think that it was OK.
As Dennis said, I personally don't care if you liked the movie or not. If you thought it was a massive pile of dog crap, your opinion doesn't make me lose any sleep at night. But constant obsessive complaining about it gets old really fast. And in contrast, I loved the movie, yet I don't constantly post about how much I loved it.

But then, I like enthusiasts.
TrekBBS in a nutshell. Every time there's a poll about.. oh .. anything, the true picture emerges very quickly. But if a passing alien just read the threads without looking at the polls, they would assume that every Trek show/movie ever made sucked so badly the producers should be killed.
These polls are unscientific, of course, but they do give a more accurate reading of the opinions of the TrekBBS membership than the topics do - the number of members who post infrequently, or never, is much greater than the number of posting participants in a "The movie rocked/sucked" thread. But many in that silent majority will go ahead and vote in a poll. Polls are like long lines - for some reason, when people see one they feel an urge to join in.

Pretty much this. Its really sad how the detractors have to remind everyone (even themselves) of how much they hate the new movie and how much it betrays Star Trek (even though its closer to TOS in tone and spirit than any movie previously).
