Klingons remind me of Samurai.
Their hair, honor system & armor
Kazon are like black gangsters.
Nappy afros or dreadlocks, tribal colors & fur.

Hmm but I always think that most Klingons are black

I don't find any traits that represents that in them.

The Kazon were supposed to be based off Hispanic street gangs who were just as often fighting one another as they were fighting everyone else.

The writers just didn't bother thinking up a real gang hierarchy or relations between the gangs. It might have worked out better if each faction LOOKED different from the other (even in coloring and clothing) and if they were competent rulers of each of their territories. And if there were some actual value/social differences between the tribes.

I just shows how blind the writers are of the cultures and races that surround them every day.

Like the Romulans, if they had bothered using real Roman history we could've had some wonderful stories of how they rule the Empire with a Senate composed of elected officials and "Old Families" with hereditary political powers, the clashes between these groups, whom the Tal Shiar are more loyal to, how both feel about the Vulcans, etc.

I always saw the Romulans more like Russians than Romans.

It would be sad if that's the only thing we as a race bring to the table.

Be'Lanna is half Klingon/half Latina.
The majority of Klingons that are prominately featured in Trek have been played by White actors.

Ok, when I reach the Klingon era in DS9 I'll take a look.
As for the temper, I have a temper, this has nothing to do (as for a I know) with my colour, but with me. What I meant was identifying with a character. And since I'm half black/half white, in winter I actually have the B'Elanna colour, but in summer I'm more of a Worf

But to get back on topic; Klingons make up had been done very well. But I'm always wondering if the writers or make up people or who ever makes up how the aliens should look, actually think of function for their "otherness". (such as the ridges with Klingons, nose Bajorans, spots Trills etc) WHat comes in mind now is the ears of the Ferengi, they are said to have better hearing.

Mostly African-American/West Indian with Native American and Asian mixed in for good measure.

But it was extraordinary how different the principal Klingons looked; Gowron, Martok, Kor and Worf were no mere identikits. They were incredibly different. The Ferengi on DS9 were the same. However I will agree that aside from DS9 which was exceptional in character development, the other shows were indeed forehead decoration alien of the week.

No, I don't hate the "bump on the forehead aliens".

But I always wished that they would come up with something more different, like the aliens in "The Swarm".

They should have made more computer-animated aliens.

They never gave the aliens themselves a name.

I always got a craving for a Butterball Turkey every time I saw them. They had that "I've just been basted" look to them.
