Who should Seven had ended up with?

I always thought that Doc would've have been a good match. They were basically on the same level, i guess that the only drawback was that Doc was a hologram so could their relationship been 'solid'.

The Doctor. He was the only one who seemed to be a close match both intellectually and emotionally/maturity-wise.

This.

The Doctor is the ONLY choice as far as I'm concerned. Especially since they beat us over the head with the fact that he was interested in her.

But... he's... got... no... blood! And I refuse to believe that, even with the mobile emitter, a hologram can provide the same sort of tactile complexity as an organic.

As I said upthread, the Doc'd need to make himself an organic body to be in the running - imho.

I'm not so sure about that. I think that in the holodeck, the doc would seem pretty real. And he can be so accommodating, if you get my gist. :techman:

So, without sex, you can't have an intimate relationship?

Denara Pel didn't seem to have any complaints.

Without sex you can have close platonic relationship but I believe sex is involved with regards to an intimate one. This may have suited Doc as he had no true physical feelings but Seven on the other hand having all the physical feeling of a human being may have wanted a little more than fireside chit chat:)

The Doctor had had sex before.

His tactile response can be manipulated to induce pain, so why not pleasure?

Vorrik didn't think that holowhore could trick his Ponfar into remitting, but a few years of upgrades on the holodeck and Tuvok screwed his troubles away.

On DS9, all the holosuits are for is fucking.

They can also do it in cyberspace, I mean Unimatrix 69.

Chakotay really enjoyed his borg orgy.

Based on my unfortunately rather limited research into romantic relationships, I agree. Certainly intimate touching is extremely important.

I jumped on the photonic thing because of the 'ick' factor, but an even bigger concern would be basic psychology. As an ageless hologram, Doc is essentially a demi-god. Implanting his personality into a human avatar would allow him to feel such fundamental organic emotions as the fear of mortality, the sense of time passing, a libido that sometimes has a mind somewhat of its own, the urge to raise children and give them the upbringing they need to flourish before one dies...

Doc deserves the legal rights of sentience, no question, but Seven deserves an organic companion. Without an organic body, Doc just isn't an acceptable fit for her.

That said, as I indicated earlier, it would have been fascinating to see Doc grapple with these issues. If he were able to grow himself a host body, and imbue it with his persona, what about the holo-Doc? Would it revert to emergency use only, or would that abrogate its rights? Would there be an organic and a holo-Doc? All fascinating questions, but the writers were apparently more interested in having Q2 throw a party in engineering.

Wow, what a narrow view of love, romance and intimacy. :wtf:

he doesn't need to grow a body.

He can take over Borg.

(Or more reprehensibly she can (partially?) assimilate indivduals which he can then jump into... Worst threesome ever?)

She can pick a drone she finds sexy, then he renovates it into some one fuckable

Hell, sexually he can take over her. A small fiddle with how he invades her body and then they can have shared control of the body while they are workign through a sex act that they can mastubate together and share the orgasm.

Pushing Daises comes to mind.

But I've tended to notice that the longer one is together the less sex and intimacy happens while the union grows stronger as your hot sexy lover turns into your sibling.

And that's just if having (too many) children doesn't scare you from using your genitals ever again.

And today's award for non-debating, boorish name-calling goes to... NCC-1701!
Name-calling? What the fuck? I was just pointing out that I find "love, intimacy and romance = sex" a really limited point of view. Nothing more and nothing less.

I think this is a case of opposites repel. She needed someone as logical and dedicated to efficiency as she was. So either another Borg turned human (besides Picard), Data (who didn't die, because Nemesis never happened), or someone in Starfleet that just doesn't get the whole emotions thing.

There was an episode where a poorly written and poorly acted female tries to date Data because she's tired of emotions. I've met people in real life who have no emotions whatsoever. It is not unrealistic to think somewhere out there in Starfleet or just on Earth there's a person just as pushy and caustic in an unintentional way who wants nothing more than efficiency and someone to explore intimacy programs with.

To me, the thought of Seven having a sexual relationship is hysterical. Remember the episode when she forces the Borg kids into a minute-by-minute schedule? "Fun will now commence for one hour." Yeah, imagine it like that. I find that very funny.

I agree with this in large part - she would hardly be well-matched with a Neelix, Tom Paris or Kirk type - which is why I suggested Barclay, as they're both emotionally immature.

Maybe during the VOY timeframe, but who's to say she couldn't grow into a mildly emotional individual? I think she could mature into just the sort of woman for ol' Reg. :)

Chakotay and Seven is the best mix imo, hes probably the most mature bloke on voyager (well he is) and he has the patience to put up with a lot, many people would get frustrated by her subtle emotions.
