That's correct...although the Thrawn trilogy attempted to put her in Jabba's palace in order to assassinate Luke.

But she's (Mara Jade) never been in a movie or series.

But there has been a "live" portrayal of Mara Jade. In the Jabba's palace scene in NPR's ROtJ radio play, Threepio gets hit up for information by a dancing girl named "Arica". Arica, of course, is the alias that Mara used at Jabba's palace.

Anthony Daniels revealed that originally the scene was written as being between Threepio and Boba Fett, but Daniels wasn't comfortable with Threepio getting so comfortable with Fett.

Daniels was familiar with the Mara Jade character (I think he read one of the Thrawn trilogy audio books?) and suggested the change. Arica/Mara was portrayed by someone named Samantha Bennett.

Interesting. Vis-a-vis the blondes, redheads, blueheads, baldies and etc., however, I rest my case.

Yes! Yes! Yes! How can anyone possibly object to such a thing?

I'd also be happy to see them recast the characters and do a live-action show or movie continuation. If Spock can be successfully recast, even Han is do-able.
I think the only real problem would be Vader. JEJ's voice is fairly hard to duplicate.
No possibility of luring JEJ to do the series? For old times' sake?

Seeing the rebirth of the Jedi in a post-Return of the Jedi series opens up far more possibilities for iconic lightsaber wielding action.

Yes, the open-endedness of that time period is one of the major attractions. Anything can happen!

Yes, absolutely, though I think it would do better without Luke and Leia and focus on other characters like Han Solo's adventures. Heck, you could make a whole series around his adventures if that fan vid is any proof. You could also make a Bounty Hunter show. Or even a miniseries set after the original trilogy using the Thrawn characters.

[re: Thread original Q] Of course not - According to George Lucas, the only SW worth caring about is the clone wars era.

Why are people so obsessed about seeing a CGI 'toon covering the same old stuff we already have seen on screen? (the OT *and* PT) Why not go somewhere we have not been before? Post-OT? Early republic? Pre-republic?

There's such a wide possible canvas - where we can have stories where you know the actual outcome of events isn't already mapped out for us. Where we don't know the fates of characters. Wow, imagine that??? :p Or has SW fandom descended to such a low level where such plot basics are dismissed, as long as we get cool light-sabers, blasters, and force tricks? Then count me out...

Personally, I'd like to see the next TV series be post-Return of the Jedi.

Nah. The Empire is gone, Vader's gone. You can't follow that. Game over.

Mara is indeed a red head.

No, she has red/gold, gold/red, reddish-goldred hair.

There's such a wide possible canvas...

But it's not particularly interesting. Or fun.

...where we can have stories where you know the actual outcome of events isn't already mapped out for us.

Agreed here. I'm not particularly interested in any more prequels. To anything. Ever.

To me, Star Wars without Force users is like Star Trek without Starfleet. You could do it, but why? :wtf:

Oh ye of little faith (and imagination)! The core dramatic conflict of Star Wars for me is this (and I don't care how Lucas is trying to sabotage it either): the galaxy is constantly trying to achieve balance between the light and dark sides of the Force. If you wipe out all the Sith, the galaxy senses a lack of Sith and will try to create more - targetting any Force user who is handy. If all the Jedi and Sith have been wiped out, leaving a couple of neophytes named Luke and Leia, guess who has a bullseye on their backs?

Star Wars is a tragedy about people trying to fight the will of the entire galaxy. That's a premise that has no ending, so no single element is vital, not Vader or the Empire or Skywalkers. But Force users are vital, since they are the key to the dramatic conflict.

Other than that, what is Star Wars? A big saga about people in space who carry shiny swords and spout ridiculous dialogue? That's like saying Star Trek is about people in space who wear gaudy-colored uniforms and overact.
