They're probably just cutting out all the non-DW music for the monday broadcast.
Plus there was the 20 minute intermission to take into account.

The radio broadcast of this prom was ~ 2 hours long (without the interval).
Monday's BBC3 broadcast cut two Doctor Who pieces; "Liz, Lizards, Vampires and Vincent" (a medley of themes from S5, 8 mins) and "Song of Freedom" (4 mins).
I guess the extended version, on Friday, will reinsert these two along with a couple of classic pieces from the prom.

I'd be seriously raging right now if I dodn't know we were getting it uncut at the end of the week. Jeez, why did they feel the need to release a short, cut version anyway?

Also noticed they cut Matt's "ITV has been knocked off the air." line. And wasn't there a piece with a soloist at the beginning?

You're right. The original started with "The Mad Man with a Box", which was missed from the tv version.
Most of the dialogue was fairly heavily cut, sometimes cutting off the presenters mid-sentence.
And the Doctor got to ramble on a bit more in his scenes. They cut a section between the Doctor saying "What you don't understand is this..." and "We've saved the Royal Albert Hall" (that included the ITV reference).
The Doctor re-intorduction of the presenters, where he described Matt Smith's name as dull, was also cut.
Tonight's version was fun - but still missing the ITV bit.
I always imagined the person who sang Vale Decem was a woman - surprised to see it was a beardy bloke! They must have really been squeezing the pliers hard.

Well, I've Sky +ed it on BBC HD tonight at 1am. Its an hour long, obviously edited, so hope its good. Missed the broadcast earlier due to work, and I've just got in from the pub, so ill watch it tomorrow.
I dropped in here to see what everyone thought of it.
I liked the 2008 prom, but Tennant was in a pre filmed scene composing his piece, if I'm guessing right Smith appears live in costume so maybe it'll have a lot more oomf as its a personal appearence,. It must be such a hoot for Gold to not only have his music played at The Albert, but as part of the Proms, must be so uplifting for a composer.
