Dr Who Prom 2010 airs on BBC3 on September 6th

In case people haven't spotted it, the Monday transmission is an edited 60 minute version.
There's a 90 minute repeat on Friday evening, which I think comes pretty close to the actual running time of the Sunday concert.

Thanks Samurai. I'd been wanting to see that bit too. Jeez, who was the idiot who kept shouting during the 10 to 11 regeneration?

They're probably just cutting out all the non-DW music for the monday broadcast.

Plus there was the 20 minute intermission to take into account.

Good timing though. I was just coming in here to ask if anyone had heard any news about the rebroadcast.

The radio broadcast of this prom was ~ 2 hours long (without the interval).

Monday's BBC3 broadcast cut two Doctor Who pieces; "Liz, Lizards, Vampires and Vincent" (a medley of themes from S5, 8 mins) and "Song of Freedom" (4 mins).

I guess the extended version, on Friday, will reinsert these two along with a couple of classic pieces from the prom.

I'd be seriously raging right now if I dodn't know we were getting it uncut at the end of the week. Jeez, why did they feel the need to release a short, cut version anyway?

Clips. I get choked near the end, even though they intentionally yanked your bleeding heart strings

LOL at the woman crying at 5:56

Awww, don't laugh. I seem to encounter those mysterious dust clouds myself whenever I listen to Vale Decem.

If anyone wants to watch the Doctor Who Prom's behind-the-scenes programme it's on BBC Interactive (Red Button or Freeview Channel 301) from 7:10pm tonight and the next two nights (Thurs & Fri).

Also noticed they cut Matt's "ITV has been knocked off the air." line. And wasn't there a piece with a soloist at the beginning?

Anyone notice any others?

You're right. The original started with "The Mad Man with a Box", which was missed from the tv version.

Most of the dialogue was fairly heavily cut, sometimes cutting off the presenters mid-sentence.

And the Doctor got to ramble on a bit more in his scenes. They cut a section between the Doctor saying "What you don't understand is this..." and "We've saved the Royal Albert Hall" (that included the ITV reference).

The Doctor re-intorduction of the presenters, where he described Matt Smith's name as dull, was also cut.

Tonight's version was fun - but still missing the ITV bit.

I always imagined the person who sang Vale Decem was a woman - surprised to see it was a beardy bloke! They must have really been squeezing the pliers hard.

Yeah, that extended version was much better. Still no, "Song of Freedom" this time, but it was in the 2008 Prom.

Apparently, he's the equivalent of a castrato - thankfully that went out of fashion. >crosses legs<

I wish they'd stop doing that. Just show the whole damn thing! :scream: I guess they didn't want to take viewers out of the music with a cheap network gag. Cuz I can't imagine the BCC worrying about upsetting the competition.

Yikes! Gotta admit it surprised the hell out of me when I discovered it was a guy. Just an amazing voice.

Was equally suprising 'in the flesh', as it were, from a hundred foot or so up in the gallery. Sort of 'Do I need new glassses, or... no, that voice really is coming from him. Wow.'

Well, I've Sky +ed it on BBC HD tonight at 1am. Its an hour long, obviously edited, so hope its good. Missed the broadcast earlier due to work, and I've just got in from the pub, so ill watch it tomorrow.

I dropped in here to see what everyone thought of it.

I liked the 2008 prom, but Tennant was in a pre filmed scene composing his piece, if I'm guessing right Smith appears live in costume so maybe it'll have a lot more oomf as its a personal appearence,. It must be such a hoot for Gold to not only have his music played at The Albert, but as part of the Proms, must be so uplifting for a composer.

Hope its a good one.
