Agreed! Glad to see the game is still getting the recognition it deserves.

And the first game made #7 on their list. Also well-deserved. :techman:

ME2 deserves it, that's difficult to deny. It's a tribute to Bioware that they can make a game with a great story and great writing, while allowing the gamer to create their own character, and I hope that other game companies figure out how to do it as well as these guys can.

I've had a look on youtube for videos with regards to that and there are some interesting moments. Tali's initial reaction to meeting Legion on Helstrom is fun, as is Kal's:lol:

^ I could never bring myself to watch any spoilers on Youtube. I'm really OCD about the Mass Effect trilogy, I have to experience everything for myself, ingame. Which probably accounts for the fact I've lost count of the number of my playthroughs

Currently replaying Mass Effect 2 on Insanity (once completed I'll have 100% of all ME1 and ME2 achievements, including DLC ).

The gameplay itself is so much fun, especially the way the combat sequences just flow - I'd say that's the one quality where I unequivocally prefer ME2 over ME1.

I still wish that doing that would instantly resolve that or mission or her loyalty's mission without all the combat silliness.

You'd already be penalized because you'd lose at least half the crew for not rushing through the relay right after picking up Legion.

I agree with all of that, I need to do an insanity playthrough, it's the only ME2 achievement i haven't gotten.

I avoid the youtube videos that spoil things, but the ones that do things i've already seen are good. The "Commander Shepard is still a jerk" video; a compilation of Renegade Sheps best lines is a good one to watch.

    ^ Insanity is quite challenging.

I have to say, they really nailed the balancing this time around. It never feels unfair or tedious (anyone remember the Thorian minions on Insanity in ME1? It took forever to take them down - it was pretty easy if you were using the knockback effect of the Sledgehammer ammunition, but mostly, it felt like a chore :scream:).

I have to say I want bioware to make a bsg/wing commander like game.

You had the complete opposite experience that I had, because Horizon on Insanity was just a pain in the ass. :lol

Since ME1 was all about the "open world", you could at least figure out ways to game the enemies. In ME2, I felt that it was all about kiting or exploiting the weak pathfinding.

You've got that right. I started an insanity playthrough yesterday.

I honestly don't know how people did this before they brought in the Incisor Sniper Rifle and the Mattock Assault Rifle because they have been key to every mission thus far.

^ I'm deliberately playing without the weapons you mentioned, only in ME2 "Vanilla" gear (as in, no DLC gear).

    It's tough, but it's doable.

    ^ Interesting.

For some reason, I had more trouble with the Horizon mission on Hardcore  Hard to say why, maybe bad luck with a Scion encounter ;)

To be honest, I don't kite in ME2, ever. I'm switching cover positions regularly, but I rarely ever backpedal or backtrack through level environments during combat - so far it worked out (I'm currently about to enter the Omega 4 relay).

I'm curious did you go for 100% completion on the loyalty missions? Thane's and Samara's are no brainers. (No combat) But you don't need to do all of them if you don't want to, it just means you take heavy casualties.

^ I've done all of them, as I've said, I tend to go OCD in Mass Effect :D

Okay, seriously, I don't go for 100% loyalty all the time, if just to see the different outcomes, but this time around, I'm shooting for "all major missions including the loyalty ones" on Insanity ;)

Nice, I'm till undecided about whether i'm gonna do all the loyalty missions, I usually never fail to do all of them. Since this is the Insanity playthorugh I might let it be a little more realistic and let a few of the crew not make it through the final mission. Also, it'l take less time, I'd prefer to be done with the tough playthrough by the time the Liara DLC is out.

^ Yeah I understand. Since I've got some freetime at hand right now and probably won't play ME2 after this playthrough for a while (what with Halo Reach coming up and Uni starting again) I'm going all out on this one :techman:

And I have to say, I haven't had that much fun with the combat mechanics of ME2 before when playing on Veteran and Hardcore, so I really enjoy stretching this playthrough out a bit.

I played ME2 again recently and was disappointed by it in comparison to the original. There were certain things I really liked, such as the characters, the universe and the continuing storyline. But I didn't feel like the characters were given much development, which is strange because this game was marketed as being much more character oriented. Also, the storyline got lost in translation to the neverending side missions. The planets were too small and the combat was too dominant in the game.

Theres no doubt that they streamlined it too much for a non RPG audience, it may of boosted sales but took away a little from the game. I would prefer more adventure in a non side quest way for the 3rd game though I doubt the action will be toned down with it being the finale of the story.

What ME3 needs is a HUGE battle and I mean Huge, ME 1 kept you away from the Battle of the Citadel and ME 2 had nothing near to that conflict. If I go down in ME3 then I want the flames of hell around me  with a HUGE battle going on.

    ;)
