I wished Season 8 of Stargate SG-1 was the final season.

Didn't they want to make it a spinoff? I thought the original plan was to rename the show "Stargate Command" in acknowledgment of the fact that it was a totally different show by that point. I don't remember why it didn't happen, though.

I think SciFi wanted to get the record for the longest running cable scifi show or something.

They did want to make it a spin-off called "Stargate Command," but Sci-Fi wasn't interested. I don't think the spin-off would have been very different, though. As far as I know, it still would have brought along Daniel, Sam, and Teal'c. But perhaps I'm incorrect--I'm not sure how far discussions of actually making it a spin-off got.

Series 9 and 10 were awful. 8 wasn't much better but at least it was still SG-1.

I think season 8 was awlful. I think season 9 an 10 were upgrade. Season 8 lacked the laughter and group.

Yeah you're right, 8, 9 and 10 were awful. And that's being generous seing as 7 wasn't that much better.

Finishing with a tweaked two part version of Full Circle would have been perfect. Otherwise finishing with Lost City.

I wish it ended with season 6, so I pretend the later seasons don't exist and I'm happy.

An upgrade from awful isn't much of an upgrade.

It's always a little confusing when people litter posts with undifferentiated awfuls. Awful because Jack had gotten too cool to actually do anything while Shanks' yen for Action Jackson left Daniel not doing much Danielish stuff? Awful because threat inflation inevitably lead to diminishing returns? Awful because the whole apotheosis thing implied the team was the Hand of God? The seasons since Shanks' return had all these problems in the adventure plot, even though the basic comedy was still intact.
